Why you should think twice before diving into an alpine lake this summer! 👇🏼 I know it’s the cool thing to do. 😉 Get that perfect shot diving into the teal blue alpine water. But did you know it’s quite dangerous, too? Have you heard of cold water shock? It happens when you (gasp) dive into a body of cold water. The sudden change in temperature can cause your body to hyperventilate and go into shock, thus freezing your limbs. And you can’t swim. It doesn’t matter how good of a swimmer you are. It can happen to all of us. And shockingly the water doesn’t have to be extremely cold to experience symptoms. So next time you wanna dive into that deep alpine lake water, think twice. Either wear a life-vest (they make compact blow up life vests now, so they’re easy to pack). Or wade in from the beach. I was a nationally ranked swimmer in high school (a bonafide fish), yet I can promise I won’t be diving into an alpine lake anytime soon. Because even though I may be a strong swimmer, Mother Nature will always be stronger. Stay humble people. And stay SAFE this summer! Please save & share! Last year Colorado had one of its deadliest summers on the water to date. 😞 Note: The lake I’m diving into in the video is a family-friendly & private swimming lake. It’s *not an alpine lake* and it is safe for swimming in summer. ↠ Here are a few safe swimming beach options to check out this summer: Boulder Reservoir, Union Reservoir, Chatfield State Park, Grand Lake Beach, Cherry Creek State Park 🏊🏼‍♀️ #outdoorsafety #watersafety #adventuring101 #lakedays #alpinelakes #hikingsafety #hikingtips #hiking101 #watersafetyawareness #coloradolakes #mountainlake #explorecolorado #bouldercolorado #swimmergirl #summeroutdoors #lovetoswim

We visited the swim beach which was beautiful. Well maintained and clean and the water was pleasantly warm. There’s a nice shallow area marked off for kids or people who aren’t swimmers and past that, you can get to the deeper water if you want to actually swim or jump off one of the three floating platforms they have. When we went there was one lifeguard on the beach and one on the platforms, they seemed pretty alert and on top of it. Looks like there’s a restaurant too but it was closed. However, there are indoor bathrooms and lockers too. Definitely had a good time here and we’ll be back!

Life guards are always very rude and disrespectful. I try to keep away from them. They’re supposed to help people, but instead they are just scaring kids and upsetting adults. The last thing was on July 4th. We came here with my daughter at 3.45pm and when we passing the gates I asked what time they’ll close, girl who I payed for entrance said at 5pm. The guy who checking my paddle board said that we have to get out of the water at 4.30pm, so we had 45 minuets. I inflated my puddle board at 4 ( yes it took 15 minutes to inflate paddle board and get to the water) on time we were in the water Life guard came to us and said we have to get out, I was trying to explain that we just got here and we have 30 minutes, but he was yelling at us and scaring my daughter. He came to close to us on his boat, my daughter was very scared of it. So we had to get out of the water. Manager returned money for entrance. But the way stuff behaved was very...

The swimming area is very small. There's lifeguards on duty so it's great for little kids, but not for adults. If you want to swim in the deeper areas, you're NOT allowed to wear a life jacket... hmmm... something is not right. Whoever made the rules was on drugs.... you need a permit if you have a blowup kayak, paddleboard, etc... (which they did not have any to sell for the rest of the season) and they need to inspect inner tubes before and after entering the park. Other reservoirs in Boulder and around denver do not require so many rules that seem unnecessary. ...
