I felt the cost of entry was way too high. It's $15 PER PERSON ($10 per person if you live in Maine). Not per car, mind you... per person. Even if you have only 2 adults, you are still paying more many than you would for ANY national park. Wihle the hiking and scenery are very good, they are not national park caliber. Meanwhile, the Applician Mountain Club (The non-profit that manages the park), has an endowment of $66 million dollars. To charge people $15 per person to go on a hike when you got $66 million in the bank is wrong.

If using AllTrails...do not follow the GPS Google maps to trailhead parking it'll lead you astray. Follow the "how to get there" instructions.    Read moreWe visited recently to hike the Gulf Hagas Trail as well as trails near the Gorman Chairback Lodge. The Gulf Hagas Trail offers some scenic waterfall views. We hiked from the top towards the bottom of the trail so that we didn't have to hike in the water. We visited Stair Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Billings Falls and The Jaws. The hike has rocks and lots of tree roots. Hiking poles are recommended. The hike winds through fir, balsam, birch, and maple forest....
