A wonderful walking space where you can walk in the woods, fields, and down to Merrymeeting Bay. After parking you will follow the dirt road under the power lines and enter the property. There are atv trails and walking areas. On the western field there is an old gravesite. I enjoy walking along the Cathance River delta into Merrymeeting Bay. In the winter, you can watch the ice cakes rise and fall and talk when they are crushing each other. You'll see the remains of an old homestead and a wonderful pond.

You are likely to see eagles throughout the year, but shore birds of all kinds are here in the warmer months. Merrymeeting Bay is part of the Atlantic flyway. I have seen tracks of white tailed deer, raccoons, red fox, squirrels, coyote, and more. Do be aware during hunting season that hunting can...

Twice now I’ve attempted to take a walk here with my family and twice there have been dog hunting events taking place which have interfered with our enjoyment of the area. There haven’t been signs anywhere at the parking area so we’ve had to walk pretty far down the road before finding a big crew of people with their dogs doing hunting drills that require us to stop and be silent. We began to continue to the water but we’re informed that there were going to be live shooting drills but “they would be sure not to shoot in our direction.” The people were nice enough but we chose not to continue with live shooting while trying to enjoy a calm...

Trained here with the Yankee Chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. Awesome spot to work your dog! Plenty of fields, woods, a small pond, and the bay was nearly 80° at high tide, great for introducing a puppy...
