This park contains a very nice, extensive, mostly crushed-gravel trail system through both open sunny and shaded wooded areas. The sculptures are wonderful, and I had no trouble finding my way around with the aid of an AllTrails map. What bothered me - and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 - is that many of the sculptures are being overgrown by weeds and brush. There is clearly someone maintaining the pathways, but not the purpose of the park. Surely, SLU could enlist some student volunteers to earn some extra credit? As for the state of the cemetery - disgraceful. Perhaps some joint project with Pike County could be undertaken to clean this up. A big plus is clean bathrooms - especially important for us drive-by hikers. I would recommend visiting, even if it's just to see it before everything is overrun by brush.

Beautiful outdoor space with great walking trails. We visited during the week and only saw one other couple. The sculptures are well done and fit into the natural elements. So many wildflowers, interesting dragon flies, and native plants. The cemetery was very serene with beautiful trees. We will definitely visit again. The reason for 4 stars had to do with the following: Trails should be better marked. There are green and red arrows that we think were meant to show you which way to go (green) and how to return (red). There were numerous forks that had no signage, and one red arrow pointed into a lake. The brochure could be improved by listing all the sculptures in the park as well as a trail map.

This place was lots of fun! But it was different than I expected. The walking trails were NOT stroller friendly. 😅 My sister and I were exhausted after pushing our strollers around; it was like trying to push a stroller through sand. But the park has one of the coolest playgrounds I've ever seen. My nephews loved it! The sculptures were so interesting! Our favorite was the wolves. My mom and I loved visiting the cemetery established in 1831, especially the gravesite of a soldier who fought in the revolutionary war! It was also sobering to see so many headstones for babies and children; some of them didn't have names.
