This is a beautiful place right on the edge of town and very easy to get to. There are two very short and flat looks populated with interpretive signs teaching about the wetlands. The river winds past the trail and there are ponds well used by water fowl. There are benches scattered throughout to sit and enjoy the scenery and birds. The trail is flat, there are 2 loops less than a mile, the trail is well-maintained and a decent bathroom available in the parking lot. Yep, there's fishing, but there's also an interpretive trail, bike trails, and loads of wildlife viewing (we were there for a 20 minute hike and saw many songbirds, pelicans, ducks, turtles, and a few folks swimming in the river). It's been a great spot since discovering it first in 2016, and it's still a gem. Pit toilets, a picnic table or two, benches scattered along the gravel trails, and great views for days, it's worth a stroll on a day you don't want to blow up your calves and glutes.    Read moreNice little spot to go on a walk or to read a book by the water! In late spring and early summer some of the paths can become flooded and extremely muddy though so plan accordingly!
Lots of wildlife can be seen at the main body of water in the center of the park that the trails go around. No swimming anywhere here though.
Unfortunately there’s also the occasional 40+ year old couple that look 70 because they’ve drank and smoked so much hiding in the bushes along the trail...
