That guy in the photos of the marker .... made me think - of all the places to find one’s self on this entire blue planet, think about it: Western Hemisphere, North America, the United States, The South, The Sovereign State of Texas, and smack-dab in the middle of it, to boot! You have rights, you have protection under the law, you can be armed if you feel the need, you have the freedom to leave anytime you care to, you can travel less than 1/2 hour from that spot and for less than one hours’ minimum pay, purchase a full meal, solicit God’s blessing on it in full view and hearing of all, should you so choose, without any worry or concern, as equally you are free to NOT do that, should that be your preference. For the equivalent of a further 3-4 hours pay, you can secure clean, safe, and comfortable habitation.Pretty damn good place to be, I’d say, wouldn’t you? Read moreThe actual geographical center of Texas is on the Wulff Cedar Creek Ranch, on FM 765, in McCullough County, near Rochelle, Mercury and Brady, Texas. It is located on private property that has a lodge that can be rented out. We were there for a family reunion. You must have a staff member take you out to the spot on a trail. There is a granite monument with a star on top marking the exact center of Texas as determined by the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. According to records of the Texas General Land Office. Read moreThe Geographical Center of Texas marker is located just north of Brady but the actual site is on private property about 5 miles from where this marker is located. Still it's worth while to visit this location out in the middle of nowhere. A few hundred feet south of the marker is Heart of Texas Park nestled atop a small hill. There are picnic benches and trash cans and a nice size parking area here at the park to enjoy with family or friends.
