My girlfriend and I showed up here for the first time after hearing some good things about Cana. We wanted to do a tasting, which we often do at new wineries and we have been to ALOT of wineries. First thing is that both of our glasses had a very obvious amount of lipstick still on the glasses so we asked for new ones. No big deal. They are also dog friendly, which would be fine except for the large lab inside the building that was barking at other dogs and the owner and employees were not doing anything about it. Not a good start.
At Cana you are ushered to a barrel room for a tasting, which was nice but our tasting was grouped with two other couples! Typically at wineries the employee will handle each group separately but not here. Here you have no one-on-one interactions and you are at the speed of the other customers. The worst part is that by the time our glass was poured, the employee was already talking about the next wine and pouring it for the first couple, who were just chugging each tasting. This gave no time to enjoy the wine or the room you were in. I have never felt so rushed at a winery or any other business supplying a service that I can think of. After paying $12 per tasting you would think you could spend at least a minute with each wine. Half way through, I finally had to tell the employee that they need to wait because I was not ready for the next wine and still had the last pour in my glass. I was not being obnoxiously slow but I swear we were rushed to drink their entire 8 or so wines in less than ten minutes! Not to mention that the employee was spilling wine all over the bar in front of us. Maybe if she slowed down, this wouldn't have been an issue.
Not to mention, we had to continuously rinse out the glass with our own water (none available in the tasting/barrel room) because the excessive amount of sediment from both the white and red wines. I had to pour out half a tasting of thier red blend after telling the employee about the amount of sediment in my glass. She just said that was typical and I believe that is an issue here more than other wineries. Also, they don't have other glasses in the tasting room get a clean glass.
As for the wines, the whites were all very sweet, if you enjoy that. The Cab Franc was fine but not exciting and just as enjoyable as their reserve, which was much more expensive.
I was so put off by the entire experience that we immediately left and spent maybe 10 minutes there. Typically I like to buy a bottle and spend some time but I had no intention on giving Cana more business. The customer service at the tasting was just atrocious. Do yourself a favor and skip the tasting or skip Cane entirely. There are so many better...

Read moreBEWARE don't go! Wish I would have read the negative reviews before coming here. Here visiting from Wisconsin and have previously gone to better wineries in the area. This woman in the picture poured me a sample before purchasing a bottle. She poured the wrong wine and then gave it to my friend to drink. Beware of this place is plagued with incompetent staff. 'Don' the tasting room manager was there rang me up when Kristin told us 'two samples per group otherwise everyone would be having free samples all day' even though we only had one minus the wine sample she accidentally poured which isn't what we requested. Don said nothing when I said other wineries have other policies and don't make it seem/insinuate that I'm cheap when I've spent over one hundred dollars here. Go to one of the friendlier wineries in wine country where they don't berate/degrade you for wanting a sample before purchasing bottles of wine. Incompetent staff do better. Refused to give me tap water have to buy bottled water. Wow do they want people getting drunk and driving. Their parking lot needs to be paved/graveled the mud ruined my brand new cole haan shoes. Dirty chairs. Accused me of lying and this is an honest review. WILL...
