The Olinda Oil Trail in Brea, California, is a fantastic hiking spot that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. We recently hiked this trail and had a wonderful experience exploring the serene surroundings and learning about the area's rich history. The trail is well-maintained and offers a moderate hike that is suitable for all skill levels. As you make your way along the path, you’re treated to beautiful views of the rolling hills, lush greenery, and, on clear days, even a glimpse of the distant mountains. The trail is particularly stunning during the spring when wildflowers are in full bloom, adding vibrant colors to the landscape. One of the highlights of the Olinda Oil Trail is its historical significance. Along the way, you’ll come across remnants of Brea’s oil drilling past, including old equipment and informational plaques that provide insight into the area's history. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the early days of oil production in Southern California and adds an educational aspect to the hike. The trail also offers plenty of shade, making it a comfortable hike even on warmer days. There are several benches and picnic spots along the way, perfect for taking a break and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It’s a great place to bring a picnic and relax with friends or family. Overall, the Olinda Oil Trail is a hidden gem that combines natural beauty with historical interest. Whether you’re a local resident or just visiting the area, this trail is a must-see for anyone who enjoys hiking and learning about the local history. Highly recommended for a scenic and educational outdoor adventure!

Wonderful mountain trail. It can be started either side of the trail and it takes about 45 minutes to walk around the whole course, especially it takes 15 minutes to the tree on the top from the below. Great trail for kids and elders too. Excellent view from the trail. Be aware of rattle snakes as they appear sometimes.

Very rewarding somewhat steep trail connecting oil pumps along the way. It offers a beautiful view from the top of the hill. Trail is narrow and combines dirt and a bit of asphalt road surrounding the pumps. Highly recommended if you are in a decent shape.

Completed this trail today. Pros: parking was easy, the trail is easily labeled (including signs warning you of rattlesnakes) and steep wise/length was okay. Cons: when you actually start walking on unpaved grounds the trail is not well kept with overgrown plants constantly in the way including poison oaks. Also just a few spaces for shade. Perhaps it use to be more well maintained but today it was not. Would...
