I just played it this weekend with our 2 dogs The art style and theme make it seem very non confrontational but there's an auction mechanic and a bit of vying for position during the walk phase, so there's more direct conflict than you'd initially expect.
Another thing that stuck out was that, compared to Wingspan, you simply do not see a lot of the dogs. You're going to uncover 8x the number of players each game and very little beyond that. That also means that, despite what you might infer from the card mechanics, that engine building opportunities are pretty limited.
Because of that I would say that it's easier for a random family members to be competitive against seasoned gamers. Wouldn't call it 100% beginner friendly, though, because there are a lot of victory point routes and game phases flying around.

The two are actually separated a couple dozen feet and aren't visible from each other when inside which allows the dogs of smaller sizes to play at ease unlike other parks where they're just a wire fence away.

One lady brought her chair and the dogs peed on her chair and she got upset but her dog jumped on the table and licked peoples waters. Compared to another lady Raquel and she is amazing! Super welcoming and even tho dogs peed on her chair she was super kind and understanding about it! So if you take your chair be prepared for dogs to pre on it potentially they are animals.
I will be going back! Raquel and Kim go often with their dogs and...
