The staff was great in the welcome center and the park was pretty but our RV campsite was covered with fire ants and it was impossible to avoid them all. We did not swim due to shore being coved with dead fish. The staff let us know it was due to the warm air and water temps but we didn’t want to deal with the smell and dead fish every time we came ashore.
Our kids loved biking the camping loop and there wasn’t any traffic on the nails creek side which saved the day.
The bathrooms are currently closed and they have portable bathrooms which were not as nice and were rather dirty compared to other parks.
With as many other nicer parks within the same distance, I don’t think we would go back, and if we did, it wouldn’t be...
Read moreBeautiful Park, Lots of trails. I even went Archery hunting right before the new year. It was beautiful and nice wilderness areas. I would definitely go again. But, I went for a quick fishing trip from the fishing piers yesterday, and none of them exist anymore. Even went 40 minutes to another area where you need to pay and reserve a campsite, paid the 26 bucks and even that area for fishing was closed. Didn't even camp. waste of almost 3 hours of total driving and $26. haha
This should be made known very well, on the website or wherever possible. Even a sign near the entrance to the park would have stopped me from driving all the way in...

I did not get in the water because the water was murky, and also lots of mosquitoes.. the restroom were super dirty, Which I see in a lot of parks...
