Michael Mcallister, it appears that I am that other person that she did this to. At the beginning of July I went and down to check the marina out and ended up deciding I wanted a slip there. I paid half that day, then the other half 7 days later. She had originally told me I would be able to get my boat in within the following week so I said okay and went on with my day. 7 days later I got that venmo request for the other half of the money, I immidiately paid it and started beginning to ask Barbara when I could get the boat in. Day after day, I would call her asking when I could get it in. One day I went down to the marina to do some crabbing and met one of the mechanics who told me someone elses boat was going where I had paid to put mine. I called Barbara the next business day and asked her what was going on. She told me she moved my slip into the cove and that she would send me a picture of the slip so I knew where to park my boat. Then again, day after day after day I asked where my slip was and when I could get the boat in. About a week passed and I decided I was going to get my money back, so I sent a text and I was told that she could not venmo me the money back because she had maxed out her venmo account from buying a motor earlier in the week, and that she could send it to me the following week. So I waited until the following week and sent her a text asking for it. This is where the excuses began, day after day it was something else, whether she had somewhere to be, was sick, or I would get a text 30 minutes before I was going to drive to the marina to get my money saying that she couldn't that day. Finally, at last, when I told her I was about to take legal action, she told me she was going to write me a check and leave it in the mailbox to the marina. I went down and deposited said check and thought it had cleared with my bank 2 days later, so I forgot about it and went on with my life, I was not going to write any bad reviews or get law enforcement involved but now I have no choice because I recieve a letter in the mail saying that the check bounced due to insufficient funds in her account and she has blocked me on venmo. Do not do business with this...
Read moreI recently had a very disappointing experience at Blue Lagoon Marina that ended with me coming very close to pressing charges. I rented a slip from the owner, Barbara, who seemed nice at first. She required cash immediately to hold the slip, which I found a bit odd but went along with it because the price was right and the marina had great ratings. However, it quickly became clear that Barbara had also rented the same slip to other people and took their money as well. This is how the story of lies began.
To try and fix the cascading situation she offered to move me to the bulk head which I agreed to. Just a day before I was set to move in, she informed me that I couldn't use the bulkhead because she doesn't actually own the rights to it. When I asked for a refund she said she would call me back two days later because she might have a slip for me. She failed to call me back and was not answering my calls or text. Finally Barbara returned my call and told me that I could not use her marina. I immediately asked for a refund.
Barbara was unable to immediately return my money. She tried lying to me, claiming that an attorney would send me a check in a week. I asked for her attorney’s name and The name she provided did not exist. I then confronted her at the marina and she told me that she would be back at 1:30 with my money. She never came back and stopped answering my calls.
She only communicated through text after her grand disappearing act. I caught Barbara in several more lies, which finally led me to file a police report for stolen money. After several threats of civil and criminal action, Barbara finally returned my money a day later. I fear she may have scammed another person to gather the money she needed to repay me.
Barbara and Blue Lagoon Marina were facing charges of theft by deception but avoided these charges by turning over the money just 60 minutes before the deadline I gave her before I pressed official charges. She was very surprised to see the great men of the Brick Police Department when she finally turned over my money. This was officially documented by the Brick...
Read moreGreat people. I have an old sea ray and had a leak from my bellows and could not find a reliable mechanic to help. After being strung along by multiple other local mechanics, Keith agreed to help out on short notice and was fantastic. He was punctual and a pleasure to work with. Will definitely use their services in the future. They have my highest recommendation for any boat work and...
