I think there were a lot of pros and cons about this location, but my impression of it was pretty mediocre.
The biggest pro was the views - extremely serene and relaxing, definitely a place that you would want to sip on a glass of wine and just enjoy with company. It was nice that you could bring your own food to the place, there was outdoor seating that was well set up that was comfy.
Cons - the wine was mediocre, there was really no body to the wine tasted too light on the palate almost like you were drinking flavored water. I think the tastes were interesting but still pedestrian in quality. Also the flies, there were SO MANY. It was unreasonable, I understand being outdoors and insects etc, but the fact that I was swatting at flies the whole time I was drinking wine is just unacceptable, a couple flies sure, but there was literally a swarm of them. Finally, the interior decor - I felt like I walked into a senior center community room, it did not give you a winery feel.
All in all, there are much better wineries in VA, we went here due to the proximity to where we were staying, but I would not come back here and we definitely didn't take any...
Read moreMy wife and I have been Bluestone Vineyards patrons since they opened. We have also visited many vineyards and wineries around the country including several in the Shenandoah Valley, east of the Blue Ridge, California, Colorado and Texas. Bluestone is among our favorites. We love their full bodied Petit Verdot, Cab Franc, and Chardonnay. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic we frequently enjoyed fun food and good music at their lively Toast the Weekend events. We look forward to returning for these events in the near future. Most of all we find the winemaker and his family to be kind and genuinely interested in providing their customers a warm and welcoming environment. Collectively, the vineyard and its owners deserve high marks for their success in making excellent wine as well as a meaningful contribution to...
Read moreWe went for a celebratory event at this winery. We were greeted with hostility and unprofessionalism. We did have a group of 10 people, and were scolded the minute we walked through the door by the manager because we did not call ahead for our large party. Not everyone was drinking and not everyone was getting a tasting. They had 8 other people in their large tasting room when we walked through the door. She then reminded us that we should reserve ahead for other wineries on our tour, which were all accommodating for our party size. We did stay because it was our friend's favorite wine. Our tasting expert, Andrew, was more than phenomenal and so welcoming. The wine was also good. Perhaps consider coming to the winery when she's...
