Just a nice little hike. Trail can be a little muddy so pay attention to weather. Reminder: limited cell signal in the park. Download maps and checkout trails before you get to the park. The website link on this page is a great resource. We parked in the lot. There were 9 cars there but we didn't see anyone else on our hike. Took the spur to the beginning of the loop and took the right turn towards the Wild Oak trail. Went to the top of Grindstone Mountain, turned around and came back. It was a fine overlook, as overlooks go. 1 mile roundtrip, 40 mins with a baby in the carrier. I'd recommend trying the left turn, especially during the summer. That'll take you down to the water.

We took the trail to the bridge over the North River. The bridge is about a half mile from the parking. The bridge is a cable stayed bridge so it shakes some as you walk across it. Very pretty in that area above the river. Great and easy short hike if you just want to see the bridge.

Incredible hiking and mountain biking trail that circumvents a large swath of the GWNF. Very popular with moderate traffic on weekends but usually not crowded except for at trailheads on weekends

Wooded trail with few people. Started at Camp Todd at route 95. Need to drive on bumpy dirt/gravel road to get there. Parking area has lots of poison ivy. Meant to go Little Bald Knob, but couldn't cross the river without getting wet. Hiked the opposite direction about 3 miles. Well marked trail that gradually climbs to a mountain top that is broad and heavily wooded. No views, even with no leaves on the hardwood trees. Pretty flowers on the trail. Wouldn't recommend this trail for the...
