We applaud all involved that make this such a world class bird viewing experience. We stopped in here just because we saw the sign on the I-15 a few years ago only having time to see the birds right around the center where there were so many to see in Spring time. We came back today and this time we were able to take the 36 mile auto tour which was very much worth the time - we found ourselves driving very slowly to take in the action on both sides of the road - this seems to be a slower time of the year but we were still able to photograph many different species of birds plus a strange sight of many carp with 30-40% of their bodies exposed above the the waterline??? We will continue to visit here at various times of the year to see so many bird actives. Will try to get here next in November - December - but whenever it is we will be back. Thanks to all for making the Bear River Migratory Refuge work so...

This is a lovely little visitor center and gift shop for the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge! A small handful of exhibits (most of which are interactive), bathrooms, a short movie in a little theater, brochures. Free to visit, though the hours are limited so check that out before you drop by. The gift shop has a bunch of books, some games, and some cute relevant knickknacks, birdhouses, etc.
There is a 1 - 1.5 hour driving tour you can do (which I believe is open sunrise to sunset), and several walking paths around the visitor center itself. There is a kids' learning space that is kind of out behind the building that you have to walk around one of the short paths to get to. Seems mostly designed for school groups, etc, but has vault bathrooms and...
Read moreThis was such a great place to visit! We ran out of time and will definitely be back. The auto tour is open from sunrise to sunset. The visitor center is open from 8-4. In the visitor center, my kids were able to play bingo in the exhibit hall and were rewarded with a butterfly sticker. There was so much fun stuff to view in the exhibit hall. There is a theater that we did not have time to view. We were also able to check out adventure backpacks for the kids that contained different magnification viewers for bugs, 2 different kinds of nets, kids' binoculars, field identification guides, etc. Each child received their own booklet to complete, and after completing a number of activities, they were able to get a junior ranger badge. We spent almost an hour on the trail just watching the bugs and birds and trying to catch bugs to view and then release. They had so much fun! We will...
