Sewing Etc — Attraction in Bristol Township

Was told today that it’s store’s policy that gift cards expire after a short period of time. They wouldn't let us use a gift card that was purchased last year. Unfortunately for this place, that’s against state and federal law. It’s a small amount of money, but it’s the principle. We’ll be pursuing the matter with the regulators.

Update 2/12/2025: owner claims that because gift cards are on paper they are allowed to expire because they “clearly state they expire after a year”. Again, in 2008 this practice became against the law. Sewing Etc is not exempt from this. Not only that, but they are required to surrender all unused gift card funds to the state of Illinois as unclaimed property. A lot of shady business...

Got my daughter's dress altered months ago so I "liked" Sewing Etc's FaceBook Page. Last week saw a status from the owner talking badly about a customer. Then the owner's friends were chiming in on the post calling this customer bad names. I will not support a business who goes to social media to talk negitivley about customers. I've worked in retail for over 35 years and had my fair share of rude customers but never would I go to the internet. This shows how immature and unprofessional the owner is. The actual customer even explained the whole situation and saw the post!!! I would feel uncomfortable going into a store knowing they will go to social media and speak badly about a customer if something doesn't...

I have been going to Sewing Etc. for a number of years now. I moved to Arkansas 4 years ago but still go to Kelly's whenever I come to Illinois. I love all the fabrics she carries and people here in Arkansas are always asking me where I get all of those fabulous panels. She has always treated me, my daughter, and my grand daughter very well. I have brought quilting friends to her store and they continue to frequent her shop. I think some of those poor reviews are just made up; "fake news" so to say. Some people like to put others down.
