Beautiful salt pond at the edge of the sea (one inspiration for Rachel Carson's book). One of our favorite spots to explore! Make sure to go at high and low tide to experience the full beauty of the location. At low tide, you can explore the tide pools and climb the rocks to the point. Enjoy!

Such a fun hidden gem! We spent about an hour just looking at all the birds near the salt pond after we took a puffin cruise that left from New Harbor. We then went back 2 other times during our vacation to see all the shorebirds again. Birders, stop if you have the time!

Hidden gem for sure! Very small off road parking area so easy to miss. Large, accessible tidepool (no climbing on big slippery rocks required). Water very clear. You just have to look carefully and watch for movement. Lots of small crabs, shrimp and sea snails all over

It’s hard to give a spot like this stars because it’s just nature. You park on the road where you can and there are stone steps leading down. As far as I could tell there is one large, shallow tide pool. It is a nice place to stop but no bathrooms or anything like that. Don’t know if this is typical but there was a very strong methane smell and after a while I got a headache. You will probably not need more than an hour to see small crabs, tiny fish and lots of snails, as well as different kinds of seaweed...
