The entrance is about 1/2 a mile off the highway, then you backtrack on a gravel frontage road. If your vehicle has little clearance or expensive paint, have someone else drive! It's rutted and bumpy. At then end of the road is a small building that charges admission, provides baskets, etc. I went on a Weds. afternoon and there were more employees than customers. The weekends are when they have their events and it's packed. I just wanted to pick fresh Raspberries so was happy with no people in sight.
One container was $16 and you pick and fill it yourself. By the time it was full it was a leisurely 3/4 mile stroll (I checked my fitness tracker) and about 45 minutes. You may want to bring a lightweight glove because Raspberries are thorny. $16 sounds expensive, but when I got home I measured it against the typical store-bought container. What I picked filled the store's container 8. The only downside is it's a LOT of raspberries! I see a lot of smoothies in my near future.
I'm sad I missed strawberry season, and I plan on returning a few times...
Read moreSo ….. a little back ground …. We have been picking our own pumpkins here at Thompson farm since around 2008 - every year opening weekend - we travel about an hour and have really enjoyed the reasonable cost and generally overall great selection and quality of the pumpkins/gourds. We arrive around open and give ourselves about 1.5 hrs to make our selections - we fill the car - at 1 time it was $50 and now it’s $90, which we believe is still reasonable. BEWARE ….. Thompson now charges a “Fall Festival” entrance fee of $14.95 a person on weekends for anyone 3+ - Even if u are only there for pumpkins - myself and my husband are NOT interested in the “Fall Festival” - we do not need pictures with the flowers (if u want to pick flowers that’s another fee) and do not have children to play in the activities. Thompson Farm now will be a place we do not go to as the “value” has been taken away. Maybe a wrist band system or something for those families that are just interested in pumpkins. We have enjoyed our time over the years BUT this will be...
Read moreRegarding the review mentioning a drone flying 5-10 feet above some of your guests. As a responsible and FAA certified drone operator myself, I certainly understand the concern here. Although I find it unlikely for something like this to happen, I do understand there are some folks that feel they are above the laws in many aspects of life, so not impossible for something like this to occur. I do want to make sure you and your employees know the FAA regulations regarding airspace. Only the FAA has control of airspace, including over private property. If your property falls in Class G airspace (Your property falls in Class D airspace however FAA authorization may be obtained to fly legally), the recourse you have available is to prohibit launching, operating and landing on your property. If an operator were to take off and operate outside your property, you can not prohibit them from flying over your property ( as long as they follow the FAA guideline i.e. not flying over people, not operating in a wreckless...
