My mom used to ride her horse here from 6 miles away. My aunt, hit a gas pump which is no longer in the village, back in the 70's. The water is Frigid! Diving or jumping off the Bridge is a blast. Driving across the previous bridges, was tons of fun!!! As they would age, the water would come over the bridge. People are usually fishing here also. It used to be closed in the winter. Perhaps, a local guide could respond re: closures & cars in the winter. This current bridge looks to be much higher off the water than any previous bridge. Also, do any of the local guides know how deep Sunset Lake is? It's deep, according to stories, trucks have sunk, never to be found. In addition no one in my entire immediate family, (which is extremely large), has ever been able to touch bottom. My mom thinks she might have come close, once. She is certain she "touched what felt like leaves. It's extremely dark, and leaves are not necessarily the bottom. I think I brought some up for proof, but I'm not positive". The floating bridge is extremely special. Not just to my family, but to...
Read moreThis is one of my go-to fishing spots. I like that u can park on either side of the bridge. There's a certain vibe there that's hard to describe. When u look up at the power lines above you, you'll notice dozens of lures messily wrapped around the wires. It tells a story of bad casts, lessons learned, and tales of the "the one that got away." I've come here since I was a little girl with my father, sister and my Noni. Each time was a different experience and memory in my mind. Now that I've become an adult, I've got new stories and stolen power line lures to look back on. I would recommend this place if you enjoy sinking a line or merely just relaxing on the grass and basking in...
Read moreLike something out of a postcard, this bridge offers idyllic views of the river and this picturesque town. We went in the late afternoon, when the light was amazing. It's such a peaceful place, and a really unique experience to walk across one of the last floating bridges in the state. Be sure to look up at the power lines, where it is a local tradition for fisherman to leave their...
