Our second favorite only to Cape Blanca SP, Loeb SP is a grand place on The Chetco River, a driftboat fisherman's dream, on the southern Oregon Coast nestled into a huge grove of Myrtle trees! Every space is now "reserveable" except for park and walk-in tent sites numbers 35, 36, 37, 38 and 41 which remain first-come-first-serve! Open sites after 07:00 PM are available for one night at a time if not on the days posted reservation list. Check with the campground host or ranger, if available. Also, please note, that with covid, no more walk up shower service is available to non campers. You must be a registered camper/guest! Only water and 30/50 amp hookups and thrash service are available! There are NO sewer dump connections in the entire campground! The closet dump is at Harris Beach SP in Brookings. Water is, also, available in the day use area. In the still evening, you can smell the vanilla scent of the myrtle trees dtifting in the air!
FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED UPDATE (Walk-ins)! The camping reservation requirement is suspended from October to May/April! Check with park personnel and volunteers for particulars as things could...
Read moreThis is the nicest campground I’ve ever stayed. It’s so clean and seems like a little community. The bathrooms and showers are immaculate. Even the hand soap in the bathroom smells better than my own at home. There’s much to do at Loeb. Bird watching, a trail that takes you to a Redwood Grove, watching salamanders dive, and swimming and paddling the warm, clear waters of the Chetco, which is amazing. My only complaint is my campsite, which is on me for making a bad pick. I stayed in 33 and while it has a pretty view of the water, the path to the river is right next to it (not shown on the reservation map or I wouldn’t have picked it). So I had people talking and walking down to the river at all hours of the day and night. The bathrooms also have two really bright lights that shone right into the campsite all night and kept waking me up. This site seems best for a large group that wants to be close these things, or an RV where it doesn’t matter. It didn’t ruin my experience though. I’ll be back...
Read moreEasy to find just 8 mi off highway 101, reservations A MUST as there are only about 4 spots @ 1st come, 1st serve, SADLY some people come out early put stuff in the spots and don't come back for days, very disrespectful. We got lucky as there was a cancellation, and up went to our tents 🏕️ This campground is immaculately clean ❣️ Hookups.. electric, water, showers, fire pit and walking distance to the Chetco River, plenty of trash cans to put your trash in Thank you so much. Quiet time is posted 10pm -7am, pet friendly must be leashed. They have a massive area for family events with volleyball nets, Not sure of that area must be reserved in advance. You'll need to check into that. You can drive your vehicle down to the gravel bar next to the river 🎉 Be safe and happy camping...
