As our first visit to Oregon, Harris Beach State Park immediately became one of the best state parks our family has experienced! It truly deserves 5 stars. The location is fantastic, with the beautiful beach just a quick 5-minute walk from the campground – perfect for our morning strolls and watching the sunset together.
For hikers like us (and our dogs!), this place is paradise. There are plenty of fantastic, dog-friendly trails right within the park, and even more amazing hiking options just a short 20-minute drive away. We wwere absolutely blown away by the nearby redwood forests – truly unbelievable and a must-see!
We stayed in Loop B, space 11, and found it to be wonderfully large and comfortable. While backing our 39ft rig in took a little maneuvering, the space itself was great once we were settled.
For whoever looking for those truly premium spots with jaw-dropping ocean views, definitely try to book sites 20, 24, or 25 – on Loop A, they looked incredible!
A huge plus for us, especially since I was working remotely, was the T-Mobile 5G coverage – it was surprisingly strong and reliable throughout our stay. It made handling work tasks seamless while being surrounded by such beauty. While we love using our Starlink, the excellent 5G meant we didn't need to set it up this time. For fellow Starlink users, it's worth noting that Loop B might be challenging due to potential obstructions from the gorgeous, super-tall redwood trees. Loop A, particularly spots along the main road with clearer sky views, might be a better bet if Starlink is your primary internet source.
SIDE NOTE: We noticed a family nearby, clearly new to RVing, really struggling to back their trailer into their spot. After watching them try for about an hour with dozens of attempts, we decided to offer a hand, even though you sometimes hear it's best not to interfere. They were incredibly grateful, and it felt good to help them get parked up so they could finally start relaxing. We really believe there's nothing offensive about offering help, especially when someone is visibly having a tough time. So, to our fellow RVers reading this: if you see someone struggling, particularly newbies, please consider offering assistance – it can make a world of difference and fosters a wonderful sense...
Read moreThe beach is absolutely the draw for this place. The ocean and rock formations along with the sunsets are amazing. The campground is typical, nothing overly special. Close to town and amenities. T-Mobile is great and some spots are great for solar. Nice, hot showers and a dump station. If you're sensative to sound at night, the factory might keep you up.
Here's things that could change...
there are no generators allowed. It's not officially stated on the reservation website, the park website or in the park. Outside of a random Q&A post of "Are generators allowed" and a "no," response on the park website (that the rangers showed us), there's nothing official. You'd have to dissect the website to find it. It's not posted anywhere in the park among the other rules or even on the map handout when you check in.
If you're not an Oregon resident, the reservation site "extra charges" out the wazoo. 2 nights in a full hook site will run close to $90ish after all's said and done. They should list the higher daily price then give an OR resident discount... not be sneaky with upcharges on the reservation site.
There's not a fresh water spigot at the dump station. Just a black tank wash out hose.
Our chairs were stolen on 10/18/24. We left to run errands and came back to no chairs. Not the park's fault at all, but if whomever stole our chairs is reading this... I truly hope you get a flat tire at the most inopportune time and miss a life changing event, one of which will never happen...
I bought the last avaliable spot August 15th and spent $24 for a nights reservation for tent site D1. Every spot was taken , at least 20 RV's and 20 others. There are spots for RV's in loops A,B and C with full service hook ups. They also have Yurts. D loop has tent sites with only water spout and dish drain. Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 1pm. It's right off highway 101 could hear traffic really well. The later it got the less traffic. Also we could hear what sounded like highway equipment doing work. Mind you this is after quiet time 10pm. Our camp site had a picnic table and a big firepit with built in bbq grate. It's a hike down to the ocean from the campsites. You can drive down to the day use area and park there. They have so many trails we did not get to explore them all. They have a playground in the middle of A loop. Fire wood is only sold from 4pm to 7pm for $5 a bundle and camp host doesn't give change ( he told us upfront lol). There are 2 live in camp host. The camping spots are really packed in there. We could hear the neighbors conversations. There are bath rooms and showers in every loop. The restrooms and showers are clean and the hot water felt so good after getting sandy. We really enjoyed staying one night at this beautiful spot. Down on the beach there is alot to explore like tide pools, sea animals, bird watching, kite flying, rocks and shells. Even some drift wood architecture going on lol....
