This was the site of our first family camping trip: Labor Day weekend 2014.

Campground: Restroom facilities were very clean & well stocked. A large oval grassy field was perfect for our 4 & 7 yr. old to play in and meet other kids! A small creek between the campground and the road offered an ankle-high water level that was ideal for kids to play in. This creek runs into the ocean. Camp sites are near one another. Noise, wind or privacy was not an issue. Birds were the only wildlife we saw. Cell phone service exists near the restrooms! Beautiful campground!

Surrounding Area: Incredible scenery opportunities!!! The ocean beach is a 4 min. walking distance away! Port Orford, by car, is 4 min. away. Gorgeous little town that's populated with friendly residents and lots of deer . Drive slow in this town, because you'll surly see deer around the corner or walking the streets! Port Orford has a beautiful long beach that you must see! Its sprinkled with massive rocks that have been there for ages! Lastly: make time to climb the large rock on this beach -- the views are amazing!!!! Take a camera.

FYI: I did not climb Humbug Mountain because I heard that 1) its a tough long hike without views (until the top) & 2) this hike should not...

This is a very beautiful clean campground Mamosa trees near the coast. Camped there in February the beautiful lower campground was closed. Upper campground is very nice and well-maintained. The sites on the inside of the loop or have power the sites on the outside do not. Showers and bathrooms are A+ clean and modern. We stayed in site 23 and did not have AT&T cell phone reception but a short walk to the other side of the campground gave us full LTE. The upper loop is located right next to Highway 101 but the road wasn’t all that busy in February. In the winter this campground does not get much sun so our solar panels did not charge your batteries during the day. It’s a short 10 minute walk to the beach. The upper campground site to have some privacy between each spot and many of the lower campground spots also have privacy. This campground excepts reservations all your long so plan your trip accordingly. The best sites are in the lower loop far away from US 101. Many of the sites on the lower loop accommodate very large trailers or class a motorhome‘s. Several of the campsites on the lower loop are pull throughs that look to be about 80 feet long. Beach access is down a path from the lower campground and under the US 101...

I wanted to camp last minute over the Fourth of July weekend and Humbug had a site. I drove down from Portland and spent two nights there. The camp was clean and well maintained. I stayed in a tent site without electric. It was inexpensive. It was a bit close to neighbors without too much brush in between but everyone was respectful. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. The showers were hot, which was good! The volunteers were friendly and helpful. I took a couple small trails (Amphitheater) and Fern and they were worthwhile. Fern had a few rough spots but the views were great! I didn’t want to climb Humbug Mountain so I’m glad I had other opportunities. The walk to the beach was not too far and the beach itself was very cozy, since really only visitors to the campground were there. I saw seals in the late afternoon and evening. During the day it was super relaxing just to hang out there. Very soft sand (which made walking a bit effortful) but made lounging very comfortable. Oregon has many nice state parks and this is certainly...

This small state park has a nice beach that is only accessible from the park, so it’s not crowded. The campground has many sites long enough for medium length trailers, and maybe almost half have water and electricity. We are camping in February, so the loop of sites closer to the beach is closed, but if you don’t want to walk that far, you can drive to that loop and park by the short trail to the beach. This morning we walked from site #9 in the loop farther from the beach to the beach and down to the North end where the beach is covered in rocks. The distance there and back was 2.5 miles. I’d guess it’s not even .5 mile to the beach. At the end of the trail where you arrive at the beach the trail drops about 14” so you have two steep steps to take on eroded sandstone and loose sand. A bit tricky for those of us who don’t have sure footing. But it’s only that one place. Verizon cell service is decent. We are having no trouble sending pics in texts and posting to Facebook in the campground and on the beach.
