Attended NHRA U.S. Nationals for the first time as my family has been coming for years now and I finally had the opportunity to be apart of the action. First off the event itself was an amazing experience. The event grounds were clean, good food options but pricing is absolutely ridiculous. Almost $10 for a slice of pizza, non alcoholic drinks $8+ and $5 for disposable foam ear plugs. Lord help you if you want a nice cold adult beverage as those will run you $13+ a can. So you can easily see this sets the stage for how much money you’ll need to bring. Event staff so far have absolutely ruined the experience for me though. Between the aggressive ego driven traffic cone jockey in the parking picking fights with just about every car they park, and the bleacher nazi’s demanding to see my papers like we’re back in the 1940s. It suppose to be non smoking yet Cheech, Chong and the Marboro man might as well be hot boxing the grand stands. Multiple Event staff shrugged our complaints off with a “Not my problem Karen” attitude… I’m 30 M who also smokes but was trying to be respectful of the older generation who’s are sensitive to the smoke out here. The local PD helping with traffic are as about as useful as a match in a hurricane. I personally witnessed 6 people in the 2 day trip almost be ran down by traffic blowing through crosswalks. The officers just sit in their cruiser watching Netflix I’m assuming or they simple don’t care. All and all it was a cool experience but I will probably just watch from home next time rather than endure the harassment from staff, risk my family’s lives using crosswalks or refinance my house...
Read moreI will never go to another event at this track again. At both the NASCAR Truck Race and the ARCA race. What a cluster. They sold general admission tickets. And reserve seats, however the were poorly marked. And general mission people were setting in reserve seats not knowing they were reserved seats. The track officials that were telling people to go didn’t know what was reserved and what wasn’t reserved. I was asked three times to move elsewhere by the fourth time I was refused to move. Hundreds of people didn’t know where to go. People were getting angry it was unbelievable.. The police finally had to come in. It was just a big mess but it’s not over. Leaving the track that was another joke I seen maybe three police directing traffic. You had to sit there for about two hours before you even moved. People were getting out their vehicles trying to direct traffic on their own. It was ridiculous. Whoever the coordinator was should be fired, and you wonder why NASCAR races are losing people coming to the race, I purchase my tickets through Menards I’ll be leaving them a nice message about their sponsorship and the way you handle things things at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Shame on you guys you were moments away from having a riot on your hands and you didn’t even realize it. I feel sorry for the people who worked there because they were confused and didn’t know what was going on. I feel sorry for the people who have reserved seats because they paid extra for seats and other people were in them. I feel sorry for the General admission because they...
Read moreI live very close to Lucas Oil Raceway and frequent the facility at least once a year. We love seeing NHRA in person and i felt it was important to support the series so i purchased two tickets for the SummerNationals. I felt a bit more safe due to the fact that the website assured that temps would be taken and that masks would be mandated and the crowds would be smaller so the risk of exposure seemed to be mitigate for myself and my son who accompanied me. I have to say i feel a bit betrayed! It is true that masks were mandated to enter but once we were past the entrance there was nobody enforcing masks anywhere in the facility! at some points during the day at least 50% of people around us had no masks at all or had them off of their faces. Many didnt even seem to have a mask available. Other fans would come in and sit right next to us or in the row directly in front of us and the whole group had no masks at all! If it is advertised that masks are mandatory and it is advertised as a safety factor to get us to buy tickets then it has to be enforced at least a little bit! There were many times we felt very unsafe and moved seats at least 4 times, and a few of those times we hard a difficult time finding a place to move to because so many had no masks. I love Lucas Oil Raceway but they have to do better keeping us safe. I was planning on coming back in Sept but i dont think that will happen unless we hear of a huge...
