I honestly have to say that Block's & Schwartz's Greenhouse are so much better their plants don't die after a few days of buying them and much more friendly greet you when you come in and helpful when you come in. Today was a horrible experience. A very rude RED HAIRED PONY TAIL WOMAN was very rude. She was working the cash register near the exit. We were exiting the store and we decided to grab some plastic wrap. I was touching the plastic wrap and as I grabbed 2. She had commentated as exactly like this very rudely "DO YOU REALLY NEED THAT MANY?" I understand that we only had 3 flats but I didn't have enough space in the back for all 3 so I would had to put 2 in the back and 1 in the passenger side. There was no need for her to have an attitude about it. Especially now with the VIRUS. She probably would have complained of why I didn't grab it after I touched it. I apologize but there isn't a sign that says there is a limit on them and even if there was we would have gotten just as much as we took just 2. The plants don't last from here they die after a few days we bought 7 flats last week and 2 of them died already. This place's service has really decreased over the years. You are more expensive then any where else. Block's & Schwartz's Greenhouse are superior to you as a company if you have better customer service! The managers at KURTZHALS' FARMS ARE VERY NICE &...
Read moreI will never shop at Kurtzhals’ again after my interaction on the phone today with an employee and a manager. I bought flowers there on Saturday and unfortunately they were not labeled. After calling early this morning to verify the species of snapdragon I purchased and not getting an answer from the individual I spoke with, I called back in the afternoon. The same individual answered and seemed bothered that I was trying to confirm what I purchased. When I asked for a manager or someone who might know the answer to my question they got a bigger attitude, I felt they were quite rude. This is 2 years in a row I have had issue at this nursery. I will not be going back based on the responses I got from the employee and manager, they clearly don’t care about their customers. Additionally last year the flowers (salvia) I purchased from this nursery struggled and again this year I am having a similar issue with flower purchased. After announcing this to my garden group that I run, 10 members commented how they have also had problems with this nursery. If in the area do yourself a favor, travel a little further west down Sibley and visit Schwartz’s where they won’t treat you like garbage and the flowers you purchase are...
Read moreKurtzhals’ Farms is a great place to visit and shop.
I enjoy being there. The layout of this nursery and farm is very easy to navigate. Great wide aisles and plenty of merchandise. I was very pleased with the health of the plants that we were looking at. When I got the plants home and put them in the soil they established themselves quickly and maintained their vigor. They don’t seem to force the plants and that’s great. When a nursery does that when you get the great looking plant home you could find yourself with a sad, wilting plant the next day that you need to bring back to health.
Their displays are quaint, simple, well done and bring out the beauty and interest of what they are selling without overwhelming the shopper with price tag mania. If you have young children keep an eye on them. It is a working farm and therefore presents some of the hazards to be found at any farm.
The place is kept clean, it is well lit and has suitable parking. It is easy in and out of the parking lot, but watch for traffic, of course, because it’s a two lane road just outside.
Look for the great big stone sign on the corner and you...
