Walked the Nature trail twice. Maybe to some trees are nature. I expect to see wildlife. In the visitor's center they have a large Eastern Fox snake that needs to be taken from them It is in a very small enclosure and it's nose is rubbed white, when it's supposed to be a copper color. Obviously this snake has rubbed his own nose off trying to get out. Eventually that will get infected and kill the animal. Also a Bald Eagle in a large enclosure sits in the same spot it was sitting two years ago the last time I was there until last week. The trail that had obviously been sprayed around the edges with round-up or some other poison, and inches beyond that it's too overgrown to do anything but stay on the main trail. And the poison will prevent any wildlife from crossing the trail, which is why you see no animals. I will be contacting the Brownstown Animal Control officer to get the Eastern Fox snake which is protected by law removed from their possession. It needs a much larger enclosure. A hot side and a cool side, a water dish that the entire animal can fit into. And anti-biotics to help heal the worn nose that will eventually kill the reptile. It wasn't worth $10.00 to see no animals. Especially since I have a State park pass every year. The pass should be usable at both State parks and Metro parks. The Metropark annual pass comes out in January and is $30.00 too much knowing that the year includes 3/4 of the year where it's too cold to visit. I feel I wasted $10 I saw no animals even after taking two laps on the...

Read moreI have attended the Lake Erie fireworks since 1985. Have never missed a year because they're truly one of the best displays in the downriver area. They're usually the first Saturday or Sunday of July. Unfortunately due to the pandemic they didn't have the wave pool open because of staffing issues but they still had vendors show up and a band. There are volunteers in golf carts who will aid you in getting all your picnic equipment to a spot of your choice and if you ask they will come back before dusk to help you take items back to your car so you don't have to haul it back in the dark. It's custom to give a tip as I said they're volunteers and not employees. There's a clean bathroom house, a gorgeous fenced in tot lot, BBQ grills, concession stand, and many picnic tables on the wave pool side of the park. There's also a nature center, many trails, boat launch, pavilion that you can reserve and rent, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely beautiful and nice place to visit...
