Gordon Wood Stadium — Attraction in Brownwood

It's complicated ... High school stadium shared with local small college. OLDER stadium with all the issues of one. Bleacher seating that is newer aluminum and not tightly cramped as some older venues. If you are fully mobile there are no problems. If you have trouble with stairs, they are steep here. Wall railings entering stadium. No railing on stairs within the stands. Steps have half steps between seat levels. If you use a wheelchair, you can get in but with issues. At visitor entry gate is uneven hard surfaces. There are ramps at both ends, but they are STEEP and straight. There are no switchbacks. A 150 lb person was an effort to push up. We came down slowly and backwards. Significant safety concern. Once up, you are on a wide walkway between upper a lower seating. There are no cut outs to sit next to your companions. You'll be in front or behind them. I don't know if they allow you to bring a folding chair to sit with them in that walk way. We didn't see the home side in detail, but it seems similar. A very nice stadium that seats close to 8000. Host to several area playoff games and home to the Brownwood Lions who have won 7 State Championships and also home to Howard Payne Yellow jackets D3 University. Large big screen scoreboard.
