Aggieland Safari, located in Bryan, Texas, is a popular drive-through wildlife park that offers visitors a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of exotic and domestic animals. Here’s a review highlighting what makes Aggieland Safari a great experience:
Positive Aspects:
Interactive Experience: One of the standout features of Aggieland Safari is the ability to feed many of the animals directly from your car. The park provides feed buckets, and animals like giraffes, zebras, and deer often approach vehicles, making for a fun and interactive experience, especially for kids.
Wide Variety of Animals: The park is home to a diverse range of animals, including exotic species like giraffes, zebras, and antelopes, as well as more familiar farm animals. This variety ensures that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Educational Opportunities: Aggieland Safari offers educational programs and guided tours that provide interesting facts about the animals and their habitats. This makes the visit not only fun but also informative.
Walk-About Adventure Zoo: In addition to the drive-through safari, the park features a walk-through area where visitors can see smaller animals, reptiles, and birds up close. This section often includes interactive exhibits and opportunities to learn more about the animals.
Family-Friendly Environment: The park is designed with families in mind, offering picnic areas, clean facilities, and plenty of shaded areas to relax. It’s a great place for a family outing or a school field trip.
Well-Maintained Facilities: Visitors often comment on how well-maintained the park is. The animals appear healthy and well-cared-for, and the grounds are clean and well-kept.
Areas for Improvement:
Crowds and Wait Times: On busy days, the drive-through section can get crowded, leading to longer wait times. It’s advisable to arrive early or visit on a weekday to avoid the rush.
Additional Amenities: While the park has basic amenities, some visitors have suggested that adding more food options or a larger gift shop could enhance the overall experience.
Weather Considerations: Since much of the experience is outdoors, the weather can play a significant role in your visit. Hot summer days or rainy weather might make the experience less enjoyable, so it’s best to check the forecast before planning your trip.
Overall Impression:
Aggieland Safari offers a unique and enjoyable experience for animal lovers of all ages. The combination of a drive-through safari and a walk-through zoo provides a well-rounded adventure that is both fun and educational. While there are a few areas that could be improved, the overall experience is highly positive, making it a must-visit destination for anyone in the Bryan-College Station area.

Read moreWe visited on July 11th,2019. Entrance to the zoo is inviting. I love that you are able to pay and get buckets of animal feed for the drive-through portion without getting out of the car. Buckets of food are only $5 each. They also give military discounts (we appreciate your appreciation of our daughter's service!) You can tell that the safari is still new - a lot of the animals are still skittish. They aren't used to coming up to the cars yet. Some are, though. I saw some reviews that rated negatively because the animals popped their heads in the vehicles?! They are wild animals at a drive-through safari. What else would you expect??? Most of the animals weren't aggressive. The zebras were extremely curious. It could be because the car in front of us was feeding them despite the "stop feeding the animals here" sign 🙄 they were just curious, though. It was a fun interaction. I'm thinking we probably would've had more interaction from the rest of the animals if we would've gone in the morning before the heat of the day kicked in. After the drive-through safari, there's a place to park to visit the rest of the zoo. There we were able to purchase lettuce to feed giraffes and tortoises ($10/bucket). They have a giant covered pavilion with tables and chairs. You can walk through the rest of the zoo to see the remainder of the animals - some are indoors (aviary, reptiles, small tortoises, etc.) and the rest are outdoors (hippos, kangaroos, warthogs, monkeys, the list goes on...) There's also a large playground if you have small children who need to run off some energy. My two reasons for rating 4 stars instead of 5 are:
I have been to the safari three different times. Twice with my grandkids. Today was a horrible experience in the gift shop. The weather dropped today and we had our grandkids without coats. I was hoping to grab some hoodies without paying a fortune. I started looking at the hoodies and couldn't find any prices or figure out where the kids sizes were. I asked an employee and was told that some are around $25 and others are around $40. I asked which was which? They said they didn't know. After several attempts to look for prices we had to bring them up and the one I thought was $40 was almost $50. I looked at the lady that said they were $40 and she says, I told you they were between $25 -$50.
We go on our drive and all went well. I'll be honest, I have no complaints about the drive thru part.
We finish the drive and start walking through the zoo. Fun animals, clean, several employees wandering around kindly helping and answering questions as needed. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We go back through the gift shop and of course the kids want a souvenir. Looking at the stuffed animals, once again most have no price, or are they organized by price or have any signs. The kids want some rocks, the price started at $7.99 then $9.99 then $11.99. they kept saying there was new products and didn't know the prices. Same issue with the stuffed animals. They said the small ones were $15 so how come the small frog was $17?
So I was extremely frustrated and asked to talk to a manager or owner. I explained my frustration and stated I have come 3 different times and never been so frustrated over prices and inconsistency. His response was they have a new system. Seriously? Figure out a solution. Colored dots for different prices. Sort and put up a sign. There were a ton of employees standing around. We had to bring up every item we were interested in and check on the price. We were trying to help our grandkids stick to a budget but that was basically impossible because they had no idea what they could afford.
Bottom line? We probably spent over $250 and their response was sorry? WOW. Just WOW. Get your...
