Our family was visiting the Glencairn Museum, which is located next to this property. We had a tour scheduled and about 15 minutes of waiting time, so we quietly walked along the public path outside to enjoy the views. Suddenly, a staff member approached us and told us we were not allowed to move for the next 10 minutes because her clients were renting the Cairnwood Estate for a wedding. She claimed that anyone walking on the path would disturb the bride, who had paid a lot for the event. We politely explained that we didn’t see any signs indicating that the path was closed. The staff then admitted that she forgot to put up any signs. In reality, this path is the only access to the Glencairn Museum, and the wedding rental covers only certain areas inside the estate building—not the public pathways. Despite our willingness to leave quietly and respectfully, the staff insisted we stand in place for 10 minutes until her clients finished entering the reception. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. The staff here needs better training in handling situations with respect...

Cairnwood will always hold a special place in my heart. My husband and I got married here after a two year engagement and then the pandemic hit. Cairnwood was spectacular at helping us reschedule and we’re so flexible in regards to changing the date. They’re simply fantastic, especially Shannon! I’ve always wanted to get married at Cairnwood. It is a dream come true venue— especially if you don’t want a traditional ballroom setting. Each room is unique and beautiful. We had a seated tent dinner outside and it was lovely. Inside we had cake cutting and the dance floor fit a band. Outside we had cocktail hour in the garden area. It’s a super gorgeous estate and we’ll managed/maintained. Again, it isn’t a typical wedding ballroom setting and we loved that our wedding was unique and different. Very memorable. Thank you Shannon and the entire...

As a wedding photographer, Cairnwood Estate is truly one of my favorite venues to work at. The estate’s historic elegance, combined with its beautiful architecture and stunning gardens, provides an incredible setting for capturing unforgettable moments. Every corner of this venue offers something unique—from the grand staircase to the outdoor terrace and lush gardens, each detail adds depth and sophistication to wedding photos.

The team at Cairnwood Estate is wonderful to work with—friendly, organized, and supportive of both couples and vendors. They ensure that the day flows smoothly, allowing us as photographers to focus on creating beautiful images. The timeless charm and versatility of Cairnwood make it a dream for any photographer and an unforgettable choice for couples. Highly recommend!

Over 100 years ago the Cairnwood Estate was built by John Pitcairn and wife Gertrude. It is a historical landmark. It is part of the Gilded Age. It was inspired by the Greek, Roman, and French. You will have free parkingThere are steps to walk or an elevator. You can go on a tour, wedding or social events. You may wander the garden paths. You can enjoy a Christmas tea. The Glencairn Museum is next door. The volunteers are delightful and knowledgeable. I plan to go back to see the Bryn Athyn Cathedral as well. The self-guided tour cost $10 per person from 2-4 pm. They have several options on how to visit Cairnwood Estate. I would not recommend strollers, or wheelchairs. You can drop visitors at the door.
