Took my family of 5 out to the “Highland Cows experience” out at Walnut Creek Farm at 1:30pm on a Sunday (need to call in advance to ensure an open slot!!), the wonderful owner gave us snacks for the cows and hair brushes…… and oh they LOVE the snacks and my 20 yr old son kept brushing their hair and they would not leave the gate where he was at….. Sapphire Valley ski resort ending up having a machine break down for the ski slopes so we couldn’t ski and were looking for something unique and different to do…. And this was only an 1 hour and 15 minutes away…. A beautiful and easy drive up to Bryson City, NC and we even dropped by an old 4 person suspension bridge about 15 minutes from the farm on the way that was really cool… Also they carry a nice selection of shirts, sweaters, jewelry, and cute stuffed animals to purchase too!! Our daughters had to get one so they could snuggle some cows when they got home!! If you’re looking for a one of a kind experience that’s affordable for your family then this a must, she only takes donations but this experience is easily worth $15-$20 a person!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for family friendly and affordable activity!!

I've always wanted to love on Highland Cows, and now I finally have! Ms. Faye was so sweet and knowledgeable about her animals. The cows were so gentle and loved getting all the loves and treats. I loved seeing all of their different personalities. We got to brush, pet, feed treats, and I got to hug one of the babies! Which is probably the highlight of my year. I can't wait to come visit again! PSA: When getting to the farm, Google Maps brought us to a small gravel landing in front of 2 gates. Go up the road a little and you'll see a steep drive with a sign that says "fluffy cows". Go up that drive!

We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting Walnut Creek Farm—our son was especially thrilled! The cows there are truly majestic and stunningly beautiful, adding such charm to the experience. The farm itself boasts breathtaking views of the mountains, making it a perfect backdrop for a memorable day. Faye was an exceptional host—warm, welcoming, and incredibly kind, going out of her way to make our family feel right at home. We’re already looking forward to our next visit and can’t recommend this gem enough to anyone traveling to Bryson City, North Carolina!
