I would have rated this campground a 4 except for the engineering/layout of the site utility services.
It is apparent that whomever did the engineering layout and park project approvals have no camping experience. Or there was no oversight on the project.
Pull through sites are set up fine. The back in sites have the utilities on the wrong side for hookups. Concrete islands with the utilities are about 12 inches above grade. You need a means to elevate your sewer discharge drain pipe higher than any normal situation.
The camp ground is fairly limited in amount of sites. I camped late November mid week and it filled up each day. But that is a positive too. It is quiet.
The campground road is paved. The sites are gravel. Several handicapped sites have concrete site aprons, parking, and sidewalk to the restrooms.
Other positives are the sites are huge. They provide plenty of privacy.
One of the campground workers (Robert - Nov 2018) was a jack of all trades. Friendly too. He was at the check in booth making reservations. Also taking care of the restrooms and showers. I saw him fixing a plumbing issue then helping an RVer with power that wasn’t working.
A centralized bathroom shower has flush toilets and Free hot showers. At the time I was there the showers, bathrooms, and sites were immaculate.
Guessing it is blazing hot here in the summer. You would more than likely need two air conditioners to keep up with the heat they get here.
Please note there was a brushfire in the area [2019]. Though the actual campground facilities did not burn, all the adjacent areas did. Right up to the perimeter of the campground. Being desert terrain, it will most likely take decades for the vegetation to return to what it once was. Expect a more barren look than what was there at one time. When I camped there December 2019 there was a constant smell...
Read moreGreat place to bring your family. Nice beaches, shade ramadas and charcoal grills, provided by the park. The staff and Rangers do a great job of keeping the park clean and are fair when it comes to the regulations of the park. They're all pretty friendly, will answer questions. If you break a law the Rangers will let you know and ticket you. They allow drinking, just bring cans or plastic. Camping is separate from the day use or beaches. Campgrounds are nice for the desert. If you camp in the summer you have to exit the campground and wait outside to enter the day area as mentioned they are separate areas of the park. Do come early to get a ramada and get in the park Do bring everything you will need for the day, as the gates do close when the park is full. Do plan on packing up about an hour to an hour and a half before closing. Give yourself time to get all your things because they close on time... 7pm means 7pm (summer time) Do NOT bring glass containers, it's prohibited by law. Do NOT bring portable charcoal grills, the park has fire restrictions. Do NOT leave trash on the beach or around the ramada. You can get a ticket for littering, but also that's just a jerk move. It's a state park for everyone to enjoy... also being from southern California, that is our drinking water and most people visiting are Californians so don't leave the park a mess, it makes us all look bad. Also the hours vary depending on the season. Summer 7a-7p Spring/Fall...
Read moreThis place is absolutely ridiculous. Some Ranger or employee working there named Evan called in to have our car impounded. I am not from the area and ran out of gas a few miles short of destination so pulled off road to a safe area and parked to go fetch gas a few miles away. When I finally made it back to my car there was nothing but an empty waiting lot.
This was some real real bull. Car impounded after merely a couple of hours even tho law generally provides for 48hrs notice to owner unless posing a danger. Also there are some rules regarding not impounding vehicles which are broke down. There were no signs anywhere near where I was parked referencing any threat of impound.
Now I can’t afford to get the car back as they are requesting about $499 and my wife and I do not have the means to get it out and the park is denying they unlawfully towed even tho it seems they likely violated Nevada State Law.
As a result wife and I have been stranded here in Laughlin for days with no shelter or money. I use the car to make money and now I can not and have been starving for the past 2 days. It would be nice if when someone makes such a senseless decision to harm people in this way due to being a nasty bitter soul that they would face some reprrocussions and be required to leersonally provide proper accommodations as a gesture of apology...
