We found Dillard Mill by chance as we drove along 49. It is quite a bit off the main road, and it feels odd going on this windy road. Eventually you do get there and it has a spacious parking lot with two sets of bathrooms (pit toilets). There is a covered picnic area with many tables. There is also a small playground. A cemetery is next to the parking lot and it has many old gravestones. We loved looking at the names and dates. The walk from the parking lot to the mill is down a gravel path and it is about 1/4 mile. Easy and not strenuous at all. You cross a stream which we managed to see a snake and fish swimming. The mill is beautiful! Ms. Cindy (park ranger who works there) was wonderful! She gave us a tour and was incredibly knowledgeable in its history. She turned the mill on for us so we can see how it worked. There is a second set of pit toilets next to the mill. Very clean too!!! There is a hiking trail around the mill that we wished we could have gone on, but we didn’t have the time. I definitely recommend going here. Oh! It is also dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed inside the mill, but they can go around the property. Our dog loved playing...

What a beautiful place to live and raise a child and watch him grow in to a man. My wife runs the park with a lot of pride and has obtained more knowledge of the mills history than any one. It's her hobby it's her life. She has turned the mill into a beautiful fully operational mill. Come check it out and see for yourself. It's been recently restored period correct down to the kind of nails used when it was built. The attention to detail will make you feel like you have gone back in time. The only thing modern in the mill is the people. It's a working museum. Not to mention it's one of, if not the most picturesque parks in the state of Missouri. I guess that's why countless numbers of people have been married here at the park. Only after making...

Hello, I wanted to take the opportunity to commend the staff at Dillard Mill historic site. My Amateur Radio Club spent the morning at the site participating in a POTA event and to the person we agreed that the staff of the site were exceptional in all regards and interactions, they took notice of what we were doing and showed high interest in our event. We have been to many different parks for Parks On The Air(POTA) events and while always welcomed thought you should be aware of the extra care taken by the staff at the Mill.

Best regards, Mark Ervine Sullivan...

Worth the drive! The mill and grounds are beautifully kept. Our guide turned the machinery on for us to see how it works and is very knowledgeable about it’s history. Website states only 4 visitors at a time for 10 minutes. We were the only people there so she let us look as long as we wanted. We went at 10 AM. Sun was in perfect place for pictures. They have picnic tables, bbq grills, benches and vault toilets. Great place to have a family picnic. No swimming or wading allowed in the water. Thank you Missouri for preserving this historic place.

Wow! What a hidden gem. Located in southern Crawford County, this pristine park offers trails, a museum, waterfalls, and a live demonstration of a grist mill. The ladies at the museum were very kind and answered questions about the operation and the mechanics of it all. This a photographers dream come true- very picturesque from many angles. The park is free, but they do take donations at the museum. Plenty of shaded picnic areas for families to social distance and feel the freedom of the outdoors. Highly recommend.
