McCandless Collection — Attraction in Burlington

In Burlington — Sometimes you just find a gold nugget under your nose. Thus it is with the McCandless Collection, a classic Mopar (Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth) and Desoto museum a mere 30 minutes from home!

Herb McCandless (affectionately known as “Mr. 4 Speed”) is a well known drag racer and his storied career forms the basis of the collection. Not only are the exquisite cars on display but all of the dealership memorabilia is magnificent. And the neon…one could dedicate a separate museum to the neon alone. A jewel and a must-see in Burlington, NC. Recommended!

Absolutely fantastic. Anxiously awaited the grand opening of this museum. Opened 2 weeks prior to my arrival in Raleigh. Could not have been more impressed. Mike McCandless has put together a great collection of cars and memorabilia. Shannon was extremely informative (as well as very friendly), even with less than a month on the job as the manager. This collection is absolutely incredible. I emailed asking if it were possible to schedule a tour for my boyfriends 40th birthday, and they immediately responded and made it happen. Shannon met us there and took us through the whole place. He was incredibly helpful and extremely knowledgeable of everything in there. It far exceeded expectations.
