This is an 800-acre lake in Burnet and Llano counties fed by the waters coming out of Lake Buchanan. The reservoir was created in 1938 as a flood control and forms a series of dams along the Colorado River in Central Texas.
There is a state park adjacent to the south side of the lake. Here visitors can enjoy outdoor pursuits including camping, boating, fishing, kayaking and hiking on and around Inks Lake.
I recently spent a morning in the state park, taking in a couple of the hiking trails including Lake Trail and Pecan Flats Trail which ascends the hilly landscape south of the lake and provides a couple nice lakeside viewpoints.
