Visited the Kiger Gorge Overlook Monday 8/10/2020. The overlook itself is not handicap accessible as it is at the end of a rocky path, parking area is gravel. Roads in this area are gravel and washboard. Would not recommend for young children as there are steep drop offs at the end. Beautiful area and a must see. Great information kiosk at the end. Big parking area, no bathrooms here. We saw a hunter here on a quad and and 2 other people in a car. We also found a geocache we weren't looking for here. The trail to the Overlook...

I think Kiger Gorge is one of the great vistas of North America. And it is right next to the East Rim of Steens, which is in the same category. You can even hike to a spot where you can see both at once! Birds! Wildflowers! Spectacular sunrises & sunsets!

Note: both are fairly accessible for limited mobility but not standard wheelchairs. Good gravel road & parking lot at each venue. In 2023, you MUST use the Frenchglen end of the loop, the other will stay...

Stunning view. Rain & snow can creep up on you before you even know it's coming, stay alert. Dangerous cliff. Keep your dogs on a leash, or better yet, don't let them out of the car - some people let their dog run loose, and I couldn't even enjoy my time there - just waiting for that rambunctious dog to fall over the edge. Keep your kids on a...

Awesome place. Go up Steen's Mountain Loop Road starting at the entrance near the Frenchglen Hotel. Easier drive than starting at the other end of the loop, full of wildflowers. Watch for the turn to the left at the Kiger Gorge sign. Turn around at the top and come down the way you went up.

This place is cool. You can hear the water and birds 1500' below. So green. The walk out is maybe 30 to 50 yards. 20 to 30 degrees cooler than and French Glenn. Worth the stop. Parking for 6 to 10 cars. No restrooms. Stop and look hear for sure!
