I have traveled to many places and enjoyed countless remarkable experiences, yet my stay here stands among the very best. Like any trip, I arrived with hopes and expectations — to escape the sweltering South Florida heat for a week, to breathe clean mountain air, to take in sweeping vistas and mist-covered peaks, and to spend unhurried time with my family. Redstone Mansion not only fulfilled these hopes but exceeded them in ways that will stay with me for a lifetime.
The home itself is a masterwork of design — elegant yet welcoming, sophisticated yet deeply comfortable. Its layout is thoughtful, the views are endless, and every detail reflects a love for art, architecture, and the simple pleasures of good living. From the fire pit looking back toward the house, beautifully lit at night like a tribute to the Trianon at Versailles (only in a better setting), to the books of world-class architecture scattered throughout, it is a place that constantly inspires.
Our days took on a perfect rhythm. Mornings began slowly, with long coffee conversations in the kitchen — a space so well-equipped and inviting that we cooked every meal together. Evenings were spent grilling on the porch, lingering over dinner for hours, then gathering around the fire pit. My college-bound eldest lit the fire each night, my youngest — a budding chef — took pride in our meals, and my middle daughter filled the air with laughter and music. I often sat reading history by the glow of my book light, counting my blessings.
For my two young golden retrievers, this was their first time off-leash — days filled with endless ball throws and the freedom to roam. Watching them run, ears flying, as happy as I’ve ever seen them, was its own joy.
There were moments when I felt as though I were back in Europe, not just because of the refined architecture and perfectly considered lighting, but because the experience itself — the views, the pace, the togetherness — carried the same sense of beauty and meaning that my favorite travels have given me. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls frame the mountains day and night, drawing the outdoors in and making you feel a part of the landscape.
This is more than just a home. It’s a gift — one created with care, generosity, and a deep sense of what makes life beautiful. I will never forget it, and I already know I...
Read moreMy Wife and our Dog just had a wonderful stay at Redstone Mansion Burnsville, NC. This is truly a stunning property! We have stayed at many rentals and this one tops the list. Beautiful views, well maintained, very comfortable bed, well stocked-equipped kitchen. Interestingly, tastefully decorated for the size of the property, every time we turned around we saw something new. I first saw this property several years ago on a list of the best pet friendly rentals by state, Redstone was listed for NC and we can understand why...It should also be on a list for best Human friendly! Communication with rental agency was terrific and on site managers were helpful, responsive and a pleasure to do business with. Burnsville is a great town with a wonderful Brewery (Homeplace), had a delicious meal at Pacifico Seafood & Grill and Ice Cream at Tulsi Rose Tea & Cream all very pet friendly. The surrounding area has many trails to waterfalls or mountain tops although you might not want to leave Redstone. Book a...
Read moreWe just spent 6 days at the cottage at Redstone Estate and LOVED every minute. Waking up to a different sunrise every morning and watching the sunsets from the hot tub was absolutely magical. You can hike right from the front steps of the cottage which is also something we loved. The beds are high quality and super comfortable, the bedding is soft and beautiful. The modern kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more. We had so much fun visiting Asheville as well as the cute town of Burnsville 20 minutes from the cottage, where we had the best barbecue EVER at "Pigs & Grits". Our hosts, Ash & Maddie were so kind and went out of their way, welcoming us with a gift basket and responding immediately to any questions we had. This truly was the most restful vacation we have had in a long time and we highly...
