The log slide is a nice stop with some interesting history. You can still see the packed sand from where they pushed the logs over the side to the water. If you read the signage you'll see when the say logs they mean massive logs. The parking lot has a drinking fountain and foot wash station and vault toilets theres additional parking for trailers. The path is paved till you get to the 50 yards from the edge then the path becomes deep sand. WARNING!!! read the sign at the top it appears to be a nice hill but when you get about 1/2 way down you run into sand cliffs there's a lot of climbing up this cliffs on the way back up it's not easy even for the well conditioned if you go down take plenty of drinking water and plan for about 20 minutes down and 2 hours back up... Phone service is not the greatest right here but with Verizon you can get thru to 911 about 1/2 back upš... Stay safe and...

There are exhibits highlighting the logging industry presence in the area not so long ago. The trail is not strenuous, but keep in mind there is sand, and the sand dunes are massive. You will be treated to a beautiful view of lake Superior and nearby Au Sable Light Station and Hurricane River beach. The path down the dunes is easy, but the return journey will test you. There is a small parking lot, this is a part of the North Country shore trail so expect other hikers and campers...
