Great place for a quick visit if you're coming down the Kokosing or in the area. I take relatives who are visiting or kids that may be staying to swim and play in the waterfall area. Recently we noticed that there was now a sign reading "NO SWIMMING. DANGEROUS UNDERCURRENT". We've swam in that area for years so I'm assuming that there was an incident within the last year. It's a shame because it is a really nice section of the river to swim at and we enjoy natural water sources more than man-made and this was a family and kiddo favorite. Parking is only across the street now as well.
There was quite a bit of trash, dirty diapers and shoes that lazy people left behind so bring a gallon ziploc for your trash and pick up what you can that has been left behind. Also, please don't pick any of the mushrooms or any other foliage, we would all like to enjoy and experience the beauty of this place. I've found these spaces are rare in Ohio and we should care for them better before they end up closing them to the public, I've seen it happen often enough in...
Read moreHoney Run park and Waterfall are both very nice for a family adventure in the woods. The walk from the parking lot to the falls is short and not very difficult. Most of the path is mulched and shaded. There are steps near the falls to take you to another pathway to walk over towards the river. When we visited, there was a decent amount of people there, so it was a little difficult to get good pictures of the falls and it was difficult to social distance. The trails usually have a spot you can step off to and let people walk by. There are a lot of rocks/boulders in the area and a lot of trails people have created. If you are interested in some climbing then you will enjoy being over by the river more than you would enjoy the falls. If you are a young family, I wouldn’t bother with a stroller, bring a...
Read moreVery much enjoyed this little park on my visit to OH, the falls were nice and forest felt very tucked away. The walk is short and brings you to a river (which might be good for kayaking/fishing).
No swimming as there could be dangerous undercurrents, I would say it's a very nice place to picnic or even just visit for a short walk and some epic pictures, I think you could explore further if you feel adventurous.
I highly recommend the fall side over the 'wooded paths' that branch of the larger parking lot, a trail map would help make them more accessible, but they might be great for a few hours to get lost around some fields.
Heads up that there were no maps for the walking paths, but the paths in the woods where the waterfall is arr pretty self explanatory. I can't wait to...
