Great for birdwatching in the winter. Lots of ducks in the upper part of the lake, south of Old Weaver Rd. And the best part is no motorized boats! So it was pretty quiet the Saturday in January.
I haven't been here in the summer but there are a TON of picnic tables and shelters and grills. Looks like a great place to bring everyone for a picnic or cookout.
There is also a nice dock for launching canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, or sailboats, with plenty of parking. And a swim beach and a fishing dock or two.

Read moreStrictly from a paddle boarding experience, the lake wasn’t bad. Quiet, not motorized boats to compete with. But I honestly don’t mind when the boats are out and about. Wake isn’t a big deal. The water was pretty murky and the few spots I pulled ashore that were away from the recreation area, there were beer cans and trash and it being a more isolated lake - you can tell people take advantage of this. Read moreBeaverdam Lake is one of several access areas of Falls Lake State Recreation Area. It's right off Creedmoor Road, north of the visitor center. This area is day use only, no camping, but it is open year round. There are picnic areas, a swim beach, short hiking trails and a boat ramp. Gas motors are prohibited in Beaverdam Lake, so it's a great place for kayaking or paddleboarding. Beaverdam also has about 12 miles of mountain biking trails.
