I tell everyone I talk to that they should go out to Lyon Farms and if they have kids they can make a day of picking strawberries or blueberries or peaches or whatever is in season and also go to three bears acres at falls lake and make a super fun family day out of it!

This farm has been a huge influence in my life, I started working there when I was 13 years old just showing people where to park so they could go and pick and I move my way up from that to a cashier eventually farmers markets and roadside stands, I honestly oh my work Ethic to Mark and Rose for being fair and For also holding me accountable for my actions when I messed up. Lyon farms helped shape who I am And it truly is a family farm, anytime I’ve needed this family throughout my life no matter how long I had been out of touch, they were always there. In 2015 both my parents and my younger brother passed away and I called Mark and he Extended the original closing time for the Raleigh produce stand so I could work there for a month and found another job for me so that I could come back to North Carolina and wouldn’t have to stress about rushing back into my career and being on the farm, with the sunshine and row after row after row.... (that could go on for hundreds possibly thousands of rows lol) of beautiful produce made my days beautiful as well. It was there that I decided to take the tragedy I had been through and find a silver lining Rather than wallow and allowing that to turn into suffering. Now I do that with everything in my life. This is a great family who will do anything for anyone of the many kids that have worked for them over the years. I read a review on here about people that have been going there for years and years and they were giving the rating a one star ... They said it was because they witnessed one of the owners being loud and yelling at some of the cashiers but that person has always been that way and people assume it’s rudeness , That is the furthest thing from the truth and was extremely upsetting to read.. I love Lyon Farms more than...

I'd hate to give this place a one star, but I'm afraid I have no choice. Me and my family have always picked our berries here. It's been like that for four years. However, only a few weeks ago, we saw a change in customer service. There was an old lady who seemed to treat the customers poorly, and didn't seem to care about her actions. We brushed it off the first time, but today when we arrived, she was as bitter as before. She was quite rude to us, when our friend didn't understand something. She told us about it in a rude, somewhat upset tone. She obviously had no patience with us. When we finished picking, we went to the check out, where we found her yelling at the cashiers for picking the wrong peaches. I felt absolutely HORRIBLE for the cashiers. They didn't deserve getting yelled at in front of everyone, and they're one of the best parts about the farm. They've always been so calm and nice. Another disturbing thing, is that she was one of the owners. After that, we all decided we wouldn't be coming here ever again. After all, if we were going to drive thirty minutes to get there and spend at least fifty dollars, the least I could expect is some decent...

I can't saw I enjoyed my experience trying to do a "you pick" blueberries & peaches with a toddler. This place is setup like an orchard so you get your steps in which was unexpected. There is little to no help, signage, direction or shade. If I had known I would have brought a wagon or stroller but didn't & assumed it'd be like the strawberry picking we'd done a few weeks prior somewhere else. I asked a worker where to go and her instructions were left for peaches&right for blueberries. Well started left and stopped when there was a pesticide sign saying don't enter. Turned around to find blueberries. They were hiding behind the blackberries& apple trees & look nothing like NY blueberry bushes which added to the time it took to find them. Later found out peaches were past the pesticide sign but toddler was beyond done so I tried to get some from their store. They weren't ripešŸ˜‘ Not very happy...

Another successful visit! The strawberries are very ripe this time of the year. The picking fields are in the back this year since they are rotating crops. They encourage you to pick strawberries of different sizes. // Visited Lyon Farms after reading about some concerns about a different strawberry-picking place. Glad we ended up coming here. As soon as you drive in, a plesant scent of a farm greets you (haven't smelled that in ages). You can check in with the cashier who will provide you with baskets ($1 each). The strawberries are $2 per pound when we went. Late April seems like it is a great time to pick. There were fruits that were just coming out and other were ripe (but not too ripe where they are too soft). The strawberries were juicy and delicious. Excited to return for the other berries later in the year!

Love Lyon Farms!! Yes, they have amazing strawberries in the spring. But then they have amazing blueberries and so many other kinds of veggies you need. You can visit their farm, or find them at the Durham Farmer's Market (during non-social distancing times...). I'm not sure how they do it but they always have the longest seasons for all their veggies and fruit. They will have strawberries those couple weeks after others have stopped producing and the same with their other veggies. All my interactions with those who sell for the farm have been wonderful. They are my first stop at the Durham Farmers Market.

I really love this farm!! It’s right around the corner, locally owned and operated, so beautiful, they keep this farm it tip top shape, it’s truly amazing to see each year how they rotate the crops, so smart, and fun to pick your own, and just outstanding quality of produce!! The berries are the sweetest I’ve ever had!!! Sorry we forgot to get them in the picture but trust me when I say they are super sweet and delicious šŸ˜‹ get the ice creams or homemade strawberry bread!!! Great way to get some fresh air too!! Totally worth the trip!!!
