This is a beautiful walk. It can be a little tricky as it is very much a nature trail with wet spots, stumps, roots, and mud. Also on the river trail side there are some steep hills. The river trail is a mile out and back. You'll find some great overlooks (see pics) and looks like some rope swings where kids swim. The cemetery trail is just under 3/4ths of a mile. It's a little flatter and has fewer tripping hazards. Not quite as scenic but it does go by an old cemetery.

Very nice spot if you go to the entrance with stone pillars there is a private beach. If your lucky enough to get there first. On the parking lot side you have trails to cliffs, rope swings and private wooded swimming holes. Caution this park is shut down as of 07/24/2020 due to disrespectful visitors leaving garbage behind. Please pick up plant a flower and enjoy this gem. Also Amanita A Rub. Delicious but always do your own spore prints!

You have got to see this park! as close as you can get to an old growth forest in Maine. Very large old pine trees create a forest canopy that allow little undergrowth. Gives an idea of what Maine was like when only native Americans were here. Restroom at the parking lot. Places to swim and plenty of wood to wander around in looking for odd plants and mushrooms. Found Lobster Mushroom there once!

Once a hidden gem and favorite place to escape for a walk, swim or paddle. Now like so many other sweet spots... CLOSED, thanks to the irresponsible behavior of a handful of people that think these special places are here for them to use and abuse at will. We are locals and have been coming here for many years. Within a short three-year span we saw this place go from amazing to overcrowded and completely trashed. We finally stopped coming after being berated by the partygoers for asking them to stop smashing beer bottles and spray painting the trees and cliffs. I miss one of my favorite spots, but am so psyched that the police & town finally intervened. There’s hope it can open again under far better and...
