My son and I drove all the way from New Jersey pick up a puppy that he had purchased and while we were driving I saw the signs for Cadiz Ohio and I thought I know that place, and then it hit me, it was the birthplace of my all-time favorite actor and my first heartthrob! When I told my son he said yes we are going to go right through it on the way to get the puppy! Well if I wasn't seatbelted in I probably would have flipped out of the car I was ecstatic with excitement! I have always wanted to go there because like I said I am in love with Clark Gable, I have been since I was 7 years old, I am now 55 and my heart still flutters like a teenage girl every time I watch one of his movies! The sad thing is the place was closed when we got there it was like 5 minutes after 4:00 on a Saturday, but just being on the front step and walking around the house outside really made me happy and my son was glad that he was part of it! My son named the puppy Emerson and I gave him the middle name of Clark so his full name is...
Read moreHad a lovely one on one guided tour of the museum. The only thing I knew of Clark Gable was the movie star side of him but my guide told me lots of interesting stories about who he was as a person especially during his younger years in Ohio. The gift shop and restrooms are on the first floor and the museum is on the second floor which you enter from stairs at the back of the house. There are a few personal belongings of Clark's as well as lots of movie memorabilia mostly focusing on gone with the wind. No pictures are allowed inside the museum or of his Cadillac in the garage. Admission is $5.75 for adults and the hours vary during different times of the year. They are closed during the winter. If you are a Clark Gable fan or classic movie fan it is worth the...
Read moreI'm from Atlanta, Georgia and toured here about 6 years ago with a friend. I love the place. Back in 1939 when Gone With The Wind premiered in Atlanta my Mother worked for the hotel that Clark Gable and Vivian Lee stayed near the Lowes Grand Theater during the premier. My Mother was a waitress and waited on both of them. They signed her an autograph with the names "Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara on it. My Mom treasured it and showed it to me a few times. I told the lady at the museum about it and told her I would send her a copy of it. Well sorry to say when I got back home I couldn't find it. My Mom passed away in 1997 and I couldn't find it in any of her things I had. My apologies to the people at the museum. I look forward to coming...
