We had some friends in town and on their agenda was to do some wine tasting. After using GPS and ending up at Free Dog Winery which is a sister company of Fujishin. After finding Fujishin on Allendale road in Wilder, the day just got better.
It was a warm day, but we sat outside and there was a nice breeze under the umbrellas. Sarah was our host and she was Idaho friendly, informative and very helpful. She directed us to each wine and what to expect. We brought our own snacks and we were probably there for about 2 hours at minimum and never felt rushed. All the wines were good and my favorite was the GSM.
Our friends were traveling with their dog and the winery is dog friendly, even rabbit friendly as there was a couple there with their rabbits.
The most surprising thing to us was that our host Sarah had only been on the job for 5 days, and you would have never known it since she was professional and knowledgeable of all the wines we tasted.
The tasting was inexpensive and a real bargain, especially if you were to compare to wine tastings in Napa, CA. Since we bought some bottles of wine, they waived the tasting cost.
It was a pleasurable experience and we will...
Read moreMy wife and I just moved to Star from Orange County, CA. We were out exploring today, checking out wineries in Caldwell in preparation for a visit from CA friends that enjoy wine tasting. We ended up at Fujishin Estates Winery.
Located on Allendale, a two-lane road off the beaten path, Fujishin has a dirt parking lot and a modern, industrial-looking building with a shed roof. When we entered we were greeted by a smiling and upbeat young woman with an IPad, who signed us up for our wine tasting. Inside, it was cool and there were high and low tables if one wanted to sit inside. There is a bay door that I'm sure is opened on cooler days. We chose an outdoor table, really a fire pit with an umbrella. The view of the valley is impressive, though the immediate landscape is dirt and weeds. I hope they upgrade it.
Our server was Seth, a delightful young man, who educated us on the various wines and was very enjoyable to talk to.
We chose a 2022 Viognier, a 2021 Petit Verdot, and a 2022 Blanc du Serpent. All of the wines we tasted were good, and we purchased the Blanc du Serpent.
When comes to a wine-tasting excursion with our CA friends, Fujishin Family Cellars will defintely be...
Read moreMy wife and I recently embarked on a four-day exploration of the wine country in southwest Idaho, where we discovered an enchanting mix of wines, cuisine, and camaraderie. We visited six unique wineries and vineyards, with Fujishin Estate Winery standing out as a particular highlight of our trip.
Fujishin offered an impressive selection of ten wines on their tasting menu, and we savored all the red varieties. Remarkably, Fujishin was one of only two places where every wine we tasted was exceptional. The wines were so captivating that we couldn't leave without becoming members of their wine club. We took home a bottle of Petite Verdot and their celebrated GSM Blend.
Living in nearby Kuna, the convenience of picking up our wines provides the perfect excuse to return to Fujishin—time and time again. The view from the tasting room is stunning, complemented by the graciousness and expertise of our host.
I'm confident you’ll cherish your visit to Fujishin as...
