I want to start by saying if you are going for a tasting or tour then this is not the review for you. The wine is very good and enjoyable! If you want to get married there please continue reading! We held our wedding at Kindred Vineyards. We loved the view of the Vineyards and the mountains in the background. We had a wedding planner that handled the majority of the communication. We had to submit our beer order twice. Luckily our planner reached out the week before to ensure it had been ordered. The order could not be located by Kindred so it was submitted again. We had a floor plan submitted in advance and approved by Craig (the owner) so he knew in advance where the items/vendors would be set. We also had a very detailed timeline that I watched our planner hand to Craig. Our planner showed up the day before our wedding to set up as the contract stated we could do; the venue had a full wine tour in the tasting room where our reception was to be held and where the set up was supposed to occur. We were able to have items delivered but NOT able to start set up at noon the day before. Which pushed our timeline so far out. Our planner was able to go out after they had closed and set up for a couple of hours instead of the six hours she had planned. We had agreed to get ready in the bridal and groom room. The bridal party arrived to a dirty area. My maid of honor went through and picked up the trash but we left the dirty towels next to the sink. We had noticed the lawn was very long. My now husband arrived at noon and asked Craig to please mow the lawn, which he did. He then watered it again. My husband and his best man worked to make up for lost time from the day before to have everything set up. Kindred also had wine tours and tastings scheduled all day up until past our ceremony start time. Ceremony started at 1600 and last tasting was scheduled for 1630 in the back where our caterer had planned to be. The groom had to ask multiple times for Craig to cancel the tasting reservations. We were reminded that Craig is "trying to run a business", despite us paying to use the winery for our wedding. I had a group of strangers waiting for the bathroom as my audience for the first look with my dad. We were approved to have a satellite bar for our cocktail hour. It was to go on the side of the tasting room along with bistro tables while our caterers set up inside. All of the winery gear ended up being stored on that side of the building despite the floor plan that Craig approved. We had to move the satellite bar and were unable to have our bistro tables set up anywhere due to this. There is no signage for restrooms where the ceremonies are held so rent your own or plan on directing guests the entire time you are out there. The temperature in the tasting room for our reception was well in to the 70's. He has mini splits for A/C on the wall but it did not help. We had to request them be turned down. It was so hot in the building that people were fanning themselves with plates and chargers! How embarrassing! I spent a portion of my time apologizing to my guests for the temperature while they were drenched in sweat! Rent fans if you are going to use the tasting room during the summer. We had been planning our wedding for over a year and it felt that Craig just found out about the wedding the day before. The wedding turned out nice despite the venue being completely unprepared thanks to our wedding planner and family putting in extra effort and time to make it work. With the way Kindred Vineyards is set up, they should not be doing weddings at all. I hope any future bride and groom takes all of this into consideration before ever...
Read moreMy girlfriends and I came in to have a nice outing. We arrived at 3 pm and promptly ordered pizzas and some flights. When the wine was poured our server did not tell us which wine we were being poured nor did they describe the wine. 2 hours into being there we had to ask about our food because it still had not arrived. And they forgot about a pizza giving our last one to another table. By the time the pizza came half of us had to leave as we were going to be late picking up our dog. I asked for a to go box just to receive it with a lecture on how their food is not meant to be ordered as “to go”. I was taken aback as I explained the reason why is because we waited for 2 hours and needed to leave. Mind you we had already requested to cancel our order but was told it was already in the oven. She responded “I just need you to know requesting food to go was not common practice” and I needed to know for next time to not expect to put my pizza in a to go box. There was also mention that I had not had wine while I was there. 1. Could a driver not be responsible and not drink while the rest of the table had, and 2. My intention was to buy two bottles prior to leaving. Bold of her to assume I wasn’t going to purchase wine (the reason we went to that winery was to purchase bottles and pick up a case). Why would a requirement be that every person walking in must drink and if I purchased food why would I get lectured on wanting to take it with me? Especially after waiting 2 hours for it. Very...
Read moreThis is truly a hidden gem! I live near Napa/Sonoma and so I'm used to the usual pomp and circumstance that normally goes with wineries. So it was a nice break to go to a relaxing, friendly, family-owned winery. The day I went, they had goat yoga(!!) and live music!
First, they have a beautiful, barn-like structure with an HUGE ceiling fan. Beautiful, warm, sunny day? They open the barn doors and turn on that fan. Cold day? Close them up and drink some fine wine in warmth.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. If you want to ask them about the area, or chit-chat about the wine, they're more than happy to tell you everything they know. And it's so relaxing there, there was no pressure for me to leave. I could just sip my wine in peace and eat my pizza.
And the pizza! REALLY, REALLY amazing pizza! They have a wood-fired pizza oven and you can even watch them make your pizza outside. Their mushrooms and cheeses are out of this world.
Oh, and the wine. Great wine, easy to forget this part when you're enjoying the atmosphere and pizza. I recommend the Gypsy Soul Bordeaux Blend, but all that I tried were good. And if you're lucky like me, you may even be there when they're making wine outside. I had a million questions and learned more about wine that afternoon than I had my entire life.
Love this winery, I can't recommend this...
