What does Mallard Park have to offer? Disc golf, bar-b-que, play areas, and a great view. If you like disc golf, it has a full 18 station course that covers the entire area of the park. If you like bar b queing, there are 3 large gazebos and 5 additional smaller gazebos. There is a large play area for the kids, and restooms nearby. The disc golf course is well used and can be simple to complex depending on which way you go and whether you play tournament rules. Beginners are welcome to play the course, and the course can still be challenging for the expert. The first tee starts off of the South 10th Avenue side, follow the signs for each tee to know which way to go for each leg of the course. Well marked signs are on each starting concrete pad, use them and follow the course. Great place for picnics with rolling hills and plenty of tables, gazebos, and parking off of South 10th Avenue or Orchard Avenue. The large play area has plenty of pertinent seating for adults to watch the kids and if close to the restrooms (off of the South 10th Avenue side). The views of the park itself are pleasing, added to by the views of the lake to the south. A very nice, well...
Read moreWide open park with beautiful vistas. Came to this park for the disc golf. Great course and, as beginners, very challenging! It has an 18 hole course with a 700ft+ on a couple of the holes. There are many little hills and great distances to walk, but has a very nice set up. The most difficult to us was the hole that is parallel to the road- scary for us because we are still in practice mode and sometimes our throwing is waaaay off. Probably not the best course for a beginner. The community was very polite, kind and encouraging. There were many families there playing in the park with their kids and many people walking the paths. Everyone was enjoying the park without running into each other. Every dog there was on a leash and with their people and I saw no poop or poop bags on the ground! Big bonus because I've stepped on many poop piles. There are quite a few poop bag stations and trashcans. Seems to be a very respectful community that really enjoys their open spaces. Trees are not fully grown yet, but still a very nice park to move around in. Lake is across a fairly busy road, but not sure how to access it...
Read moreWe really enjoy the beauty this park has to offer. Lovely view and great walking paths. Sadly, other people don't hold public parks in the same regard that we do. Specifically the graduation party that was held on May 26th in space #3. The KNAUFF party left a huge mess. A cooler full of food, 2 lawn chairs, 2 packs of bottled water, 3 large containers of opened salsa, plastic cutlery, plastic containers with exposed and eaten food, and a bunch of chocolate cupcakes that were exposed. With no intent of coming back to clean it up!! If any stray dogs would have gotten into them, it literally could have killed them or made them sick. Not to mention the wildlife/birds in the area. Your entitled mess left a lot for maintenance people to deal with. We decided to help by taking unopened items to our local mutual aid and recycling what we could. KNAUFF family- shame on you. Your entitled actions are why we can't have nice things. Do better and if you can't then...
