The Sterling Castle — Attraction in Calera

Overall, our wedding turned out beautiful. The flowers were gorgeous, everyone loved the food(except for the eggplant parmesan) and it was a real party, but there were some things that did not go quite the way they were planned. I payed for dancing on a cloud and got bubbles instead. For my menu, I ordered parmesan mashed potatoes and regular mashed potatoes were served. I feel like I did everything I could to make sure we were on the same page. I was in constant communication with them, mostly initiated by me. Misty actually didn't have the updated information during the rehearsal, I had updated everything with her son as he was my main contact person. Also, we had her to notarize it and she forgot to put the date her commission expires 🤦🏿‍♀️

For my cocktail hour, I expressed during the planning meeting that I wanted passed hor devours. Misty advised against this saying people would be more like to eat more if the food was out. I said I was concerned about flies since the cocktail hour was outdoors and she assured me she would have people manning the stations to ensure the food was not fly filled. The people she had manning the stations were just standing there letting the flies get on everything and they would not allow my hostesses to fan the food. Terrible.

Now for the DJ, as I said it was a party, but I spent time filling out the forms online and he said he didn't have it at the wedding(I'm guessing he meant with him because prior to the wedding he let me know he did not have the ceremony music details, but I did not need him to DJ the ceremony). The DJ is hired through the venue. They need to start getting a copy of the details from the website because it is ridiculous for the dj to be asking the bride questions on her wedding day, look at the details I sent you prior to. As a result, a few things were skipped, such as the dances with the parents.

Now for the big issue. At one point during my cocktail hour she came and blurted that they were going to need more money because we had more people there than we paid for. I have no clue how she came to this conclusion or why she thought it was okay to come say that in front of people. Multiple people, who don't know each other, have mentioned it so clearly she had a pretty high volume. She was instructed to go count and she came back and said we were actually under the number. We were about 10 people under. That may not sound like a lot of people, but that's about $1,000 we paid for people who didn't show up and she came in there and said that. The venue itself is nothing short of breathtaking, with its stunning architecture and beautifully manicured grounds that create a fantasy setting for any event. Every corner of the castle tells a story, making it a perfect backdrop for unforgettable memories.

The owners (Victor and Misty) of The Sterling Castle truly understand the art of hospitality. The decorations, DJ and food were outstanding. I want to thank Victor and Misty for meeting my expectations. This couple was very pleasant and easy to work with. Even if it was an idea that they never experienced, they were willing to give it a try. I requested, simple, but elegant decor and that is what I received. Their passion for creating a welcoming and enchanting experience is evident in every detail. They went above beyond to ensure that my event was seamless, from the initial planning stages to the day of the celebration. The entire team was simply amazing. They were there to assist in whatever capacity they were needed. Their professionalism and genuine care for my guests made us feel valued and appreciated. They worked behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly, their positive energy was infectious. Whether it was Victor or Misty, their assistant Ashley, the catering staff, maintenance crew, or parking attendant, everyone contributed to making my experience truly exceptional.

Searching for venues We stumbled on Sterling Castle. Instantly this princess fell in love. Never thought I would be able to pull off a fairytale wedding. We looked at tons of venues that weekend. Sterling Castle was our first one. It set an extremely high standard no other place could even dream of competing with! We feel like most brides do. We have this once in a lifetime love. We can’t wait to share our story with friends and family. Meeting the Binkerd family sealed the deal. They have a true passion for love, romance and weddings. Touring the venue they showed us how much love and thought was put into each and every aspect of their place. I’m such an intentional person and everything they did was for the intent to display a love story. Then they repeated that with my family. They had a huge variety of options on the food, ceremony places. It was also going to rain on our day and the last minute we were able to move to our original spot. Tons of adorable picture options. If I had a wish they did everything in their power to grant it happily. The day of the wedding was no different. They even took time to show my family around to show them the hidden gems of this place. Made them feel very special. Every detail exceed my expectations. As if the venue itself wasn’t a wow factor. Misty design for all the flowers and decorations was beyond belief. She has a unique gift. We left there feeling like family. Comparing to the other venues we looked at we were happy to feel the love and romance from Sterling. Someone to join us in our day. Not just provide a space for us.
