Having visited dozens of Napa wineries over the years I would put the Amulet Estate at the top of the heap. I went there last week with my mother, a long-time Napa resident, who found it as inspiring, enlightening, refreshing, and downright life-affirming as I did. The wines are beyond exceptional, especially the humbly named “Red Wine.” (Humble like a Ferrari – insanely good and priced accordingly, alas for some of us...) The place is a visual treat as well, from the surrounding hillscape to the sleek curves of the cave, the deep red of the walls, the candlelit tasting “warrens” off the main tunnel (can warrens be elegant? Turns out yes!) But the best part was getting to spend some time with co-owner Nathan, and hearing his take on... well, you name it. We learned so much about so much, like the myriad choices that go into such an impossibly ambitious project as this one, and what it means to reach for this particular dream. The fact that he managed/partnered in the Meadowood restaurant for several years (local three michelin-starred restaurant that was destroyed by the 2020 wildfires) explains why he could offer such fresh insights into the interaction of food and wine (and people). We were most impressed by the precise, artful, yet unpretentious, unfussy way Nathan and his partners seem to approach everything, right down to the wine labels. We got the feeling that Nathan has an unusually solid grip on the Bigger Picture, which is reflected in everything you see and taste at this winery. Understated greatness. People who spend any amount of time in this part of the world know that this is a very rare and precious quality – something to really savor. Couldn’t recommend Amulet Estate...
Read moreOur experience at Amulet Estate was nothing short of magical. Brittany curated an intimate and thoughtfully crafted journey through their stunning vineyard, making us feel like part of the Amulet family. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Amulet Estate is more than just a winery—it's a place where history, passion, and deep respect for the land come together to create something truly special. Brittany guided us through an exceptional tasting experience, where we not only enjoyed the wines but also had the rare opportunity to taste the fruit straight from the vine and even participate in the harvest. Punching down the fermenting grapes was an unforgettable hands-on moment that truly connected us to the winemaking process. The attention to detail in both the wines and the hospitality was unparalleled. Whether we were exploring the candle-lit cave filled with their current releases or soaking in the serene beauty of the estate, every moment was curated to perfection. We left Amulet Estate not just with bottles of exquisite wine, but with memories and a sense of belonging to this incredible Napa Valley gem.
