The beach is nice, but a few years ago some friends and I had an unpleasant experience there. I asked a lifeguard if alcoholic beverages were allowed on the beach, and he answered my question; but he said that if I had any further questions or concerns about this to ask the female lifeguard. I declined, because he had answered the question to my satisfaction. Approximately forty or so minutes later, I saw the female lifeguard leaving the beach (I think her shift ended). Soon afterwords, my friends and I were visited by law enforcement. One of them stated: "I understand you gentleman have some questions." It was highly inappropriate for the lifeguard to contact law enforcement, especially behind our backs. My question was answered, and neither me or my friends were drinking alcohol. There was no evidence of a crime or of any suspicious activity. We were minding our own business sitting on the beach, enjoying the day. Law enforcement treated us poorly, and wanted to see all of our ID's, and they walked us to my friends car in order to see proof that he had a pass. We were also asked a bunch of irrelevant questions, like how long we had known each other, where we lived, etc., then finally released. My suspicion is that the the male lifeguard had informed the female lifeguard about our question (perhaps he asked her if I had talked to her), and her ego was wounded because I had not consulted her with my question. And that her notifying law enforcement was passive aggression. I reported all of this to the relevant authority, because it was all inappropriate. I received a respectful and professional apology from...
Read moreI used to love going to Brandy Creek, but not any more. The animals at Brandy Creek are no longer wild because too many people feed them. We were there for 10 minutes and we saw geese, deer, and squirrels. These animals were at this beach for one reason and that was to get food from people.
I left because while my friend and I were sitting at a picnic table talking a squirrel chewed through a ziplock bag full of chips to get to the chips. This fat squirrel was not going to wait for a hand out. He was so bold and desperate. We were just inches away from him and he didn't care in the slightest. We had to shoo him away three times and then I decided to leave.
Protecting your food from aggressive animals is not relaxing. This is why I will not be coming back to Brand Creek...
Read moreRV sites are like parking spaces. Fill your rv tank unless you have gravity fill. I was very disappointed I could not put water in the rv. (see photo). Fortunately, the campground host stopped by and held the hose end, and together, we were able to get some water in the tank. THANK YOU! The area still needs time to recover from the forest fire several years ago. The green is...
