County Line Beach is a beach park located in Solromar, an unincorporated community of Ventura County. This stretch of sandy beach is easily accessible from the adjacent Pacific Coast Highway and is a popular surf spot. The beach lies within the south coast portion of the Ventura County amidst a mostly rugged coastline that is some of the most striking and diverse coastal terrain in the County. The beach lies at the mouth of a canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains that hug the shore along the Ventura County's south coast. The beach is the most westerly community on the Malibu Coast and is within the Malibu zip code. The area was not included within the City of Malibu when the city incorporated as it is just across the boundary separating Los Angeles County from Ventura County. Its sandy beach stretches over half a mile, bordered by the Whaler's Village Condominium complex to the east, the MariSol residential community to the North and a tract of single-family beach homes on the western end. It has a small parking lot and street parking is available along Pacific Coast Highway which is part of the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route. This an access point for California Coastal Trail. Board surfing, body surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing and stand up paddle boarding are common activities at County Line Beach. The water quality at County Line Beach is consistently graded as an A+ by the environmental steward organization Heal the Bay. It has a beach break with good peaks for surfing, and a point break that stays glassy from the thick kelp beds. Junior surf competitions are held there. Kite surfing and wind surfing are also popular...
Read moreAwesome stretch of oceanfront beach! A rare spot at the ocean surf where parking is free, surfing is good and the views are unobstructed. There’s lots of sand beach to find space to layout on within view of our parked vehicles. Early surfers get the choicest spots, while latecomers may need to start back across from the Neptune’s Net restaurant to park and then walk boards over to a desired location. Summertime may be very crowded, tho with lifeguards in attendance. Fall thru autumn visits here have been ideal, even at mid-day! While I didn’t notice a lifeguard stationed here, I did see a roving patrol to help oversee the safety during the offseason. The restrooms are substituted with port-o-potty’s, with additional options available across the highway back at Neptune’s Net while going to get prepared food. I’d urge caution when parking alongside either side of Pacific Coast Highway, leaving enough space to step out of the driver’s side from fast moving traffic. Also being mindful both ways if when crossing...
Read moreNice beach. Arrived at the beach at 0800 and parking was filling up. Appears to be a lot of PCH side parking, but with nice weather and beautiful beaches there can never be enough parking. The break is a mix of sand and stone, which seems to help with the shape of the waves. There is a sand beach with space for towels and beach umbrellas if that's your thing. Surf was 3-5' and water temperature was ~62, which was fine spring suit weather on a sunny day. Surf was crowded and with only a couple of take off spots, two or three good surfers were catching all the waves. That said, there were enough leftovers...
