Figurine Hunt Update: A few days ago we were on the trail, and my kids were really disappointed to find only a few toys. It looks like some had been taken. They love going there especially because of the little figurines hidden along the trail. It’s such a fun activity for kids to search for them and hide them in new spots. So, they collected some small figurines at home, and today we placed about 30 new ones on the trail. Enjoy! And please remind the kids not to take them home — it’s even better if you add a few new ones. It’s always so much fun!
Dave Moore Nature Area is a fantastic place to visit with kids! We went on a Saturday at 11 AM, and while there were some families, it wasn’t too crowded. There is plenty of parking available, which makes the visit even more convenient. The trail is perfect for children, as they get to search for small dinosaur figurines along the way and leave them in new spots for others to find. We visited with three kids (ages 3, 5, and 9), and they all had a great time. About halfway through, there’s access to the river with a sandy shore where kids can play with water, sand, and rocks. We left soaked but happy! A must-visit...
Read moreLoved this park!!! Absolutely beautiful and peaceful nature area! The trail is kept up, no debris, low lying branches or garbage. It's an easy loop that anyone can do and is also handicap accessible to a point. Theres a part of the trail that opens up to the river with a small beach for relaxing, taking in the sun or enjoying a picnic (bring a blanket!) It was amazing to see the rock wall knowing how long it's been there and how well its put together. The mushroom rock was cool and mysterious (we call it a giant clam!) The whole trail was just so peaceful! There were actually a few groups of kids (very young up to high school age) but we only ran into them once and didnt hear them on the rest of the trail. At the end of the trail there are two separated picnic tables to enjoy lunch. All in all it was a beautiful day and we will definitely be back and will be...
Read moreSaturday morning 10am -12 noon, very few hikers. Trail from parking lot is handicapped accessible and cleared of poison oak. All along this trail small toys have been deposited on rocks, in tree branches, secreted among branches. It was fun to look for and find them and then replace them further along the trail! About half a mile to the river where there is a nice area along the water with sand, water access, and lots of big rocks to climb on. There were many butterflies along the water line. The return hike along the river is not accessible and was pretty well lined with poison oak. We only went a couple of hundred yards before turning back to exit on the better path. Nice way to spend a couple hours with young children. Very nice sites with picnic tables along the trail, but not at the water Dogs...
