Our scout troop stays at this park just for the astronomy nights. We just returned from another wonderful astronomy weekend. Let them know if you are a large group so they can send you a quick video on what to expect and how to prepare - arrive at twilight, bring a red flashlight, etc. We enjoyed the lecture about what we're looking at when we see the Milky Way, and it was great to look through all the telescopes. . There were several volunteers that brought their own equipment and were so generous with their time and knowledge - we met some wonderful people and had a really good time. Read moreIt used to be a really great place to let the kids see the stars and planets but now the lines to use the telescopes is akin to waiting in lines at Disneyland, for only 5 seconds time of viewing through the telescope otherwise ppl behind you in line get annoyed. My kids say they aren't interested in going back for a 5th year because there are just too many people.
