We toured this small family-run gem of a winery on a referral from a local in 2023, days from the harvest. This was one of the few in both Valleys where we delighted in each and every glass that was put in front of of us. While enjoying a perfect day in Squire’s Family backyard, we were soaking in the sun, taking in wonderful views of his vineyard and surrounding valley from atop the hill, with the added bonus of learning of the passion they have for growing and producing each bottle of happiness, told by the very charismatic and personable Squire Fridell, owner, winemaker. He had a long career in Hollywood that afforded him to start this second passion, and you will be greatly entertained with his stories! But of course the Wine! Why we are here, right? We love it all from GlenLyon. We like fruit forward reds, crisp whites that are not “buttery”, we think their blended wines are excellent, the Cabernet solid, Syrah that can be aged, and even the Rosé (blended Pinot, and sparkling) that are refreshing especially when shared with friends. They even make a Port! We joined the Clan (“with a C”…it’s a Scottish thing) and look forward to every shipment. Squire is friendly, very personable, and an absolute nut when it comes to his passion and energy, putting out a very good wine at reasonable prices all while making it fun for the customer. Go for a visit, drink with the Family, have a great time, and...
Read moreDelightful and impressive experience with Squire & Suzy Fridell. From the early shipment of the well packed products to the hosting of the virtual wine tasting, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my experience. I signed up for the VIP virtual Wine Tasting as the opening of the Dorson Community Foundation's 9th Annual Spring Splendor Gala ready for the winery introduction and lesson, and I got even more. Having never experienced a virtual tasting, getting the products with preparation instructions made for a seamless process. I received 3 full size bottles, 2019 Blush O' the Boar Rosé 2019 Estate Sarah & Glen Lyon Port 2018 with (a pie slice size) cheese & almond bark chocolate, all securely packed. That set the tone for what was to come. The instructions explained what to do with each wine. On the day of the event, Saturday April 10, 2021, I was able to sign on with many other attendees prepared for the education of this wines and we gained a full understanding of each wine with skills to fully experience the consumption. I plan to visit in person. When outside is fully and safely opened back up. 😊 Thank you Squire (GlenLyon) for sharing your wine knowledge and Dorson Community Foundation for partnering with them to bring this experience to...
Read moreLovely wines for the most part, some a tad overpriced imho, and the “squire” is very entertaining & charming until you decide to stop your membership in his wine club. He’s then short , dismissive & a bit rude. I thought perhaps I just caught him on a bad day,( I asked to end my membership via email, thanking him for the nice wines we purchased ), but when sharing my experience with a friend who had also decided to end her “membership “, she told me he actually hung up on her. Neither of us will ever purchase from this winery again. There are a lot of great...
